Default DIY Gearstick gaiter change

First remove the center console.
Grab hold as in the picture and pull straight up, all 7 clips should release at the same time. (picture borrowed from 003sfd, thanks!)
There are 3 clips on each side and one at the back, the metal clips are fixated to the console so don't worry they will stay there. Release the gaiters button and velcro, disconnect the 12V and USB/Aux outlets and pull the console back and up over the gearstick knob.

Turn it upside down and unscrew 8 screws holding the gaiter and frame. Notice the plastic flap on one side, we will keep that.

The original gaiter is stapled to the frame, remove all staples.

I didn't staple the new gaiter to the frame, instead I sewed it to the frame using thread and needle and using the old staple holes.
Begin with the protection flap and fixate it to its original place.

Drill a pair of small holes in each corner tab.

Check the orientation of the new gaiter, the frame (and the gaiter) is wider at one end.
Sew it to the frame, I used a rather thick white cotton thread, it doesn't matter what the color is it will not be visible from the top (if you do it right).

Screw the frame and gaiter back to the console.

Done!

This gaiter has a button on the top and velcro half way down so it's not necessary to remove the gearstick knob. Connect the 12V and USB/Aux connectors and put it back in place in the car.

See how nice it goes with the white stitching on the seats.

Jeebowhite, how do you snap a picture with both hands on the console!?
