ESP indicator light comes on

After a year of no problems
the ESP indicator light (not the ESP off) comes on randomly.
Once it is lit, it remains so until ignition is switched off.

Anyone had this?

My car stopped having this problem after a regular service on 20000km so I suspect it was the old problem with air in fuel filter (they changed the filter and no more ABS sensors, gas pedal sensor, steering wheel sensor etc. problems which turned on the ESP light) - we will see after the next 6 months if it starts again...

It looks like that ESP light is a "catch all" error light for all exceptions that the comp gets and doesn't know what to do about...

But recently I changed my mobile and now it looks like it was having an interference with the comp near the USB ports so my current issue is that it turns off backlight on my drivers console, tells me back doors are open or just resets my trip A and B mileage... I'm testing it now with my mobile in the pocket and not in the usual place and it looks that it fixed it (for now)!

Problem was solved

Service under warranty had replaced a faulty brake switch.
It is located at the brake pedal.

Off the records, I was there and did not see any part replaced ;)
Probably a loose wiring to this switch.

Anyway, the logic is that ESP system should be notified when you brake
and identifies a faulty switch/wiring.

PS
If you suspect this, check your tail brake lights when the ESP turns on.
Chances are they will not operate correctly too.
