Default ESP Light on Dashboard

Hi all,

Well after a year and a bit of no problems, the ESP Off light has just appeared on the dashboard.

Must be the high milage of 12,000 !!!

Tried a few restarts but the light still comes on.

Car booked into dealer for a diagnostic.

Anyone else had this issue ???

Regards

Nick

Are you sure that you are getting the ESP indicator light on the dash? I am asking you because, the power steering indicator says EPS, and they can be easily mistaken!

Hi

Thanks for your reply

It says esp off, just the same as if you had pressed the button.

What if you press the ESP button? The tacho still displays "ESP OFF"?

The button does not do anything when ESP Off lit on dash.

When you restart the car it clears and you can use the button as per normal, after a bit of drivig it comes on again.

Having a google around it appears some Hyundai i30s are now getting the same problem.

Hi all

Had the dealer computer plugged in today, a couple of small glitches (as the dealer put it ) on the cars brain to do with the esp. Nothing showing up as faulty. ECU cleared and we will see how it goes.

Dealer was helpful and no charge.

Only 6 years left on the warranty !!

My ESP kept turning off, after long trips at speeds around 150-160Km/h. I could only turn it back on by turning the car of, and starting it again.

And it also always turns off when I go over exactly 210Km/h, but comes back on when the speed drops.

LOL.. of course that's not normal. On a good highway, speeds of 160-180 you see lots of people doing it, of course you can get a ticket!
In order to reach 210 the road has to be going downhill!
I know a good highway for that near by, that has few traffic.
