Default audio acting funny

today I tried to play an old and quite damaged cd, and the audio froze. I changed the cd and the music played normally, but I didn't get any response from controls on the steering wheel or on the unit for a while (track selection and volume). Turned it off and on and no luck.

after a minute or two of playing the music it was all normal again. hope this was only a random error every electronic device goes through every once in a while.

I think I know what happened to our units: mine didn't like the music and yours couldn't live without it

A year ago someone on the forum had a freeze when he ejected a cd. I don't remember who though. Personally the cd player has got obsolete. USB memory stick rules now.

Hmm not seen that, but noticed if I leave a memory stick in the USB slot, switch off the engine and then switch on again, music plays back too quickly i.e. too fast a tempo I need to unplug and plug back in again, weird

Never seen that, how long are you leaving engine off? I often leave a stick in there and never noticed what you describe despite many engine on/off cycles.

Mine packed up completely last Friday whilst trying to skip tracks on the USB stick. Tried the usual trick of turning the ignition on and off and even resorted to pulling the radio fuse from the side fuse box without luck. Dealer managed to get it working again, but it's behaving strangely when you press the mode button

Replacement has been ordered, but I've been told that it will take a couple of weeks

How can KIA get a thing like a radio wrong. A radio is a radio and they should know how to make one that lasts a hundred years. I have some old radio players from my cars from the 80s and they still work fine. My Kia stereo locks up and crackles some times when 1st switched on.

It's not KIA It's Siemens as far as i know manufacturing and supplying audio units so it's their fault. I'm not suprised though as Siemens can't make good mobile phones(I'm 100 % sure as witnessed myself),they're absolutely rubbish...Looks like todays technology is too advanced for Siemens and they can't crack it

Whell... actually a radio ir not a radio anymore! The Cee'd unit as connection to the speedometer to increase/decrease volume as you accelerate. It has the USb connections, etc.
It's highly likely that if you remove the radio, the car won't start!
