Default Pro_ceed 1.6 petrol or diesel

I would like to hear your opinion about 1.6 petrol and diesel engines of the Pro_ceed. I tested them both but just cant decide which one is better. Diesel seemed more lively but petrol did bring more power at high revs and better overall acceleration. What was your experience and which one would you buy?

If you're not sure then make the decision based on cost - compare mpg of both choices, factor in difference in purchase price and also your expected annual mileage. I bought the 114bhp diesel but whether I'd do it again, I don't know. Probably cos I didn't pay a premium for buying the diesel. Saying that, this rip-off government we have here in Britian has cranked up diesel prices to such an extent that I would seriously do the above calculation again.

Is diesel more expensive that petrol all across Europe????

Diesel is about 10% more expensive than gasoline here in Bulgaria! Have you considered the 1.4 gasoline engine? I'll have my 1.4 Pro Ceed in a few days, so I'll share hands-on experience I'm not sure if the additional 13hp of the 1.6 is worth the price difference...and probably with the 1.6 you will get a little less mpg. Also consider the difference between gasoline and diesel engine in the servicing price (about 40E here). After my calculations at the current prices, diesel is "square" with gasoline after about 90 000km, after that you can start "saving" from the lower consumption. Also there are some countries where the difference in insurance between 1.6 and 1.4 is significant (not here!) so have that in mind also. Although great choice!

Yeah, diesel is more expensive also here in my country (about 4%). The difference in price between petrol and diesel model here is 1300€ and the cost is not the main issue for me. I'm deciding more based on which car gives me better overall performance. I know that petrol has better accellaration and top speed but you have to use really high revs to get there, so i'm wondering how much more fuel does this kind of driving consume in comparison to diesel, where you can get very nice acceleration at quite lower revs.

Diesel model has also an option to add tempomat to the equipment, whilst petrol doesnt and tempomat would be a nice thing to have.

Interesting... here you can add tempomat on all engines exept 1.4 gasoline in my oppinion diesel is much easier to drive around town but you can have more fun with the gasoline it comes to what are your requirements of the car i guess

If 'tempomat' is what Kia jokingly refer to as climate control then good luck guys!

The diesel engine is easier to drive, you don't have to use the gearbox so ofter, because of the extra torque.

I bought the 1600CRDi Pro_Cee'd, I do it again today!
I'll be remapping it maybe next month and you'll see a 1.6 engine with the specs of the 2.0 diesel engine!
