I'll be remapping it maybe next month and you'll see a 1.6 engine with the specs of the 2.0 diesel engine!
Tell me more about the remapping (you are probably talking about chip tunning). What do you plan to use, how much does it cost and how safe is it?

How about if petrol cost the same as diesel and the car cost the same to buy?

I'm talking about remapping the original ECU. No chips or boxs atacched! This is the way it should be done!
It's done customized to your car and needs.

Take a look at this topic:
http://www.kia-forums.com/kia-ceed-f...d-gearbox.html

Prices are from 300-450€.. it depends were you do it! I'll be doing it at Vilauto Competições on a remap day (10 cars, ~250€ each with a dyno before and after).

If it's safe or not, once again ot depends were do the remap. Here in Portugal, It's very common to see remaped diesel engines, with no major problems, only the clutch has a reduced lifetime due to the extra torque.

Interesting.
So what happens when you have to go to the dealer for servicing. Can you remap it back, becouse if you cant, your warranty is gone. But that means you have to pay 400€ every year for remapping, or is there another way.

Freakzoide, since you own a 1.6 proceed diesel i am interested about the real numbers for acceleration and top speed based on your experience. Does acceleration from 0-100 really take 11,4 seconds. What is your current max speed?

well, i'm from portugal and bought a pro ceed 1.6 diesel..
haven't had the time to proper time it, but i think it makes from 0-100km/h in 10.x secs
top speed... actually depends on how patient you are.. it goes up to 180 km/h quite easily.. but 210/215 km/h (on the dash) top speed

Yes, I also think that it is under 11 seconds. When i tested ceed SW 1.6 diesel it seemed like around 10.5 to 11, so i guess pro_ceed should be a little quicker since it is a little lighter. Are you thinking about chipping it?
