The removable Whitter unit from the Kia accessories list is a really nice piece of kit and very unobtrusive when not in use

for hanging a couple of push bikes on. Don't think I can do the usual hatch mounted type cos I've got the extra aerofoil thing.

Welcome to the forum Jas. Hope you enjoy your new Ceed.

In reply to the posts from Tim and Bunker re the tow bar and bike carrier, if you go for the removable tow ball it will reduce your options for fitting a bike carrier. The most stable ones fit between the tow ball and towing bracket. You need to buy longer bolts to fit the plate between the two. Have a look at Cycle Carriers from Towsure for more info.

I have not been able to find an OEM tow bar for the Ceed yet. Towsure don't list one.

I have fitted tow bars myself in the past. Easy enough to do without the electrics. I have not bothered with electrics when using it just to carry bikes. The number plate needs to be clear and you can see the lights well enough through the wheel spokes. I asked my main dealer first about warranty conditions re self fitting and also remember to tell your insurance company what you have added. These days they will use any excuse to wriggle out of paying for a claim.

Thanks for the info Steve. Kia quoted me £300 and something for a tow bar fitted, I was so shocked I didn't ask what sort!

If that includes electrics it's not a bad price. I paid more than that six years ago to have one fitted to my Nissan.

Yeah, although I didn't ask a lot of questions I think it was all electrics - if you're saying it's not bad, I'll maybe ask a bit more when I take it back in for: new gear shift gaiter and a 'sensor fan assembly' - which is their way of attempting to fix the aircon (I'll keep you posted but I aint hopeful). They are also gonna fix a large scrape on the front bumper which the wife incurred in ways she won't explain. I was gonna see what the local ChipsAway guy could do but Kia only wanted £115+VAT which seemed OK - it's a few fairly deep gouges plus a lot of scraped paint.

It's sunny and quite hot in the car today, so I had the aircon on. Tried it in automatic and set at 15.5. No good. It was not running as if it was trying to achieve 15.5 inside. It felt more like 23+. I think the problem is simply the inside air temp sensor is not calibrated correctly. Running in manual it works fine.

Yeah, sounds like my effect. However 'manual' is what is sold as 'aircon' as opposed to 'climate control' - subtle and important difference.

£112 for swan neck towbar, will fit myself and £10 for electrics which will be mounted below bumper out of sight.
