Angry Ipod with steering controls????

Hi All,

Has anyone managed to get an Ipod working with their Cee'd which can be controlled by the steering wheel buttons??

My dealer has replaced the dash socket and cables twice but still it only plays the ipod back with no controls from the stereo or the steering wheel ?

I haven't seen any posts saying they are happy with the ipod controls. Have you read all the posts on this subject? There are over twenty that mention the ipod. Do a search for 'ipod' in the Ceed forum and you can see them all and read of the frustration of ipod owners.

get them to replace the head unit next, if the steering wheel controls work the stereos other functions its likely an issue with it working with the ipod.

Mine works my ipod fine, except it does not do playlists and you cannot play any file type other than mp3.

Ok will ask them, how does yours work then?
Ours plugs in and then comes up USB Empty and we can only then press play on the Ipod and it plays the songs with only volume control on the steering wheel.

If it says usb empty then its likely that your tunes are in AAC format, the native format used by the ipod and itunes. The cee'd needs mp3 instead of aac. You can set iTunes to convert all the files to mp3, then it should operate.

I have volume control and can change track from the steering column but as I said previously the cee'd head unit does not support playlists.

Thumbs down Update for all Irish Cee'd Owners

After spending most of yesterday chasing Kia Motors in Ireland for an answer to my Ipod problems they have come up with the following:

Kia Cee'd in Ireland with the interface marked Ipod on them can only playback the tracks from the ipod and the only control on the stereo and steering wheel is volume control.

The Cee'd s in the UK are a different spec to ours so thats why they can skips tracks.

This came from a Customer Service Manager in Kia Motors Dublin.

(It does not make sense to me and smacks of bulls**t but thats what they are saying!! )

It does smack of bull - what did the advertising say when you bought the car? I can't really see why it should be different for an Irish car, unless your iPods are green?

Advertising did and still says " Ipod Compatible ".

Obviously Kia Ireland's idea of compatible is totally different to mine !!!

I've just spent all day trying to sort out my new cee'd. My ipod wont work in the USB port. The screen says USB blank, dealership said they were unaware that you can't just plug and play. Rang head office in Dublin and was told that my idea of compatibility is wrong and that i must buy a kia cable to hook my iPod uo to the car??? Can anybody tell me why the bothered fitting a USB port in the car at all....... its so annoying!!! They want me to pay another 110 euros for this..... HELP!!!

USB for playing mp3 from a mass storage device, USB flashstick and alike... that would be the main purpose and it works great.
