even with the Kia cable you get only some limited Ipod functionality, so I would not bother. buy a sandisk cruiser and you'll be more than happy

Can anybody tell me why the bothered fitting a USB port in the car at all....... its so annoying!!! They want me to pay another 110 euros for this..... HELP!!!
Nowhere in any adverts I read before buying my cee'd did it state an extra cable was reqd, it simply said 'iPod compatible' - it might have even said fully iPod compatible but can't prove that. I moaned at dealer and eventually they gave me the cable. Fat lot of good it did too, it's still totally carp! The USB memory stick interface does work well though and I'm sticking (no pun intended) with that, currently using a Sandisk Cruzer 8GB device. My complaint with the iPod compatibility is a matter of principle but I'm soon gonna give up and replace the HU just as soon as I can think of a way to make it less visible and theft-worthy.

I managed to get my IPOD to work in my pro_cee'd. The problem I have is the stereo display doesn't show the names of the songs. They come up as AAA_EE DDD_R etc. No idea on how to control what songs i want to listen to.

Any advice?

Thats the way Apple stores the stuff on the device - have you got it set up in USB drive mode - think thats how you'll see the tracks like that. I've had it but can't remember what I did to show 'em like that nor what I did to stop it! - sorry.

I was thinking on going to the customer protection and making a formal claim, as it is false advertising, as in the pictures on their web shows as well a Ipod nano with the Kia logo on the screen (meaning it is connected with the radio and has full functionality) as it does in Spain, for example.
I got the cable for free, but if you buy it is 120€ or so, and then it doesn't work.
The only way I had found is use "rockbox" (look in google) that converts the ipod in a normal mp4 (the radio will read the full names, and you can still play the music on the ipod)

Default workaround I'm using

I've had my cee'd SW (I'm from Estonia) for about a week now. iPod connected via the special cable works - that means I can switch tracks from the steeringwheel - but all in all it's total crap.
You can't switch tracks (or use any of the iPod functionality) from the iPod itself, the playlists do not work etc. Trying to find the song/album/podcast that I currently want to listen to is virtually impossible. Every time I connect the iPod it starts from the first song - for example when I'm in the middle of a podcast and the iPod is paused, it ignores it.

What I've done now is connected the iPod to the car via the AUX hole - I got myself a cable which has normal headphone jacks on both ends and I connect the iPod like that. This means I can't swich tracks from the steeringwheel, but I think its an ok tradeoff for the playlists to work and to be able to select the albums or podcast in a matter which is accustomed to me and which is a lot better than the way KIA makes it possible.

I hope this is a help to some of the cee'd drivers having these problems. It would be great to get some feedback!

Anyone know if it's just as crap with an iPhone 3G? - again, no access to car at the moment to test.

I don't really expect it to be any better but it's got to be worth asking.
