Default MP3 help!

So I got my Pro_cee'd the other week. Awesome car. Can't fault it yet...except for a minor issue with my MP3 player. I have a Creative Zen and apparently when I hook it up through the USB slot, the head unit says that the 'USB is empty'. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

what format / bitrate are the MP3s? Do the same files work if copied to a CD and played in the HU?

The same files work if played through an iPod using the Kia cable. They're in MP3 format.

Does the ipod actually use the USB for the 'data' or does it in fact use the audio plug? If so they it's still not really a test of the files themselves as I'd expect that the iPod is playing them and the HU is simply doing a bit of controlling plus amplifying the audio from the iPod.
My USB has worked with all kinds of different memory devices, including a small hard drive.

Have you got a memory stick you can try? Maybe your HU is faulty and not reading from the USB port.

Tim I have no idea. I think it does use the USB because the iPod battery is also charged and I can control the iPod through the buttons on the steering wheel.

I'll try it with a USB stick steve and see what happens.

Creative Zen (and number of other MP3 players) use different protocol to exchange data with PC and cannot emulate memory stick, which is most likely the only mode for data access, besides iPod, that Cee'd radio recognizes. On the other hand, many MP3 players know how to "play" memory stick and are thus ok by Cee'd.

Default aux not usb

when u attched the zen to the usb port, it will only charge it, (tried charging my c zen with a ps2) so u should hook it up with the aux cable of the zen to the car... (the controls on the steering wheel will be useless though)
