Has anyone managed to play an ipod 80gb classic in their vehicle.

What do you mean when you say iTunes music ?

an iPod should work (partly) if you use the iPod cable for the cee'd - this does not come with the car.

An USB stick should work fine, as long as you store the music in an acceptable format - for instance regular MP3 files.

Thank you for the prompt reply.

Apparently itunes, stores the music in m4p format.
The ceed set up cannot read it, it reads mp3 that is the problem
I think.
I am running the cable (which WAS supplied with the vehicle).
Probably, if I could change the format it would work.

I also wondered if the classic ipod @ 80gb is too large for it to read.
Actually what you have said is true about mp3

I doubt the 80GB would be too big but from my experiences the actual interface to the iPod songlist is fecked. You can't choose folders / albums so it's practically useless (that might be just my cars setup - I couldn't use iPod, complained and now this is what I have got). Try a USB stick with .MP3s and see how you get on. Don't give up on Kia - give 'em every chance to get it right.

Ah the joys of DRM, how dare you expect to be able to play the music that you bought and paid for on anything apart from an iPod

Luckily help is at hand:

Convert iTunes to MP3 Format

A couple of questions.

1. Do you use a Mac?
2. Is your iPod Mac formatted?
3. Do you store your itunes tracks in AAC format?

AAC is the prefered Apple format for tracks, not MP3. My iPod is full of AAC tracks, and when plugged into the USB it reads and then states that it is blank.

I asked about the Mac formatting, as mine is and i'm not sure if the USB reader in the car only likes FAT/FAT32 formatted devices, in which case anything formatted for Mac or Windows NTFS will not be read.

If the car can read a mac formatted ipod, then all you need to do is convert your tracks from AAC to MP3 which can be done in iTunes.

That's the way it is on all cee'ds. It's not implemented correctly. Sad innit.

OP:
A solution would be to just run a standard microjack-microjack cable from the headphone output of your ipod, to the AUX input in your cee'd.

That way it doesn't matter what format you store it in on the iPod, as long as the iPod itself can play it.
