Exclamation KIA has updated tyre pressure figures for fully loaded car

Finnish car magazine almost flipped over the Ceed SW in a slalom test. They concluded that the pressure recommendations are too low for fully loaded car. ESP could not keep the car on track. Under normal load the car behaved well with recommended pressure 2.2 in all tires.

In response KIA has acknowledged the problem and now the recommended inflation for fully loaded car is 2.4 for front and 2.9 for rear tires.

They are saying that KMC's R&D has done the tests during the summer of 2006 and came up with the rectified numbers, but, for some reason the Zilina factory was not informed and all the technical papers were not updated.

Quite a serious mistake...

2.2 bar = 32 psi
2.4 bar = 34 psi
2.9 bar = 42 psi

I just put on my summer tires today and blead them down to 32.
Oh well back up again tomorrow.

Default KIA a**holes !! Or me stupid...??

When I brought my brand new SW from the dealer´s in mid-January, the summer 16¨ alloys that came with the car from the plant seemed a bit hard to me. I couldn´t believe my eyes, the meter at the filling station read 3.5 !! So I blew them off to about 3.0 and thought oh what, they must know what they´re doing plus my previous car was a 97 nissan primera and that car did have a stiff (but outstanding!!) chassis ! Holy crap! I found out they cramp the tyres up for storing reasons. I usually drive alone or with my female appellee so I went further down to 2.4 on both axles which feels the right pressure and I now enjoy smooth cruising around.

Everybody should check the tire pressure when they pickup the car.
The tires are always overinflated!
