Default Rear shock absorbers noise.

Hello all,

just have to ask for it has been the most significant (among just few) problem with Ceed in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Don't remember anyone mentioned it on this forum.

Can start after 3000-5000 km, but usually (as in my case) - 300-500 km and increasing gradually. Sometimes but not always can be connected with below zero weather conditions but many owners reported they were quite OK in -25 and others suffer in +10, so this is probably not the reason. Typical conditions are 30-40 (50) km/h (20-30 m/h) and bad roads. When I go 90 km/h damned things are silent.

Kia distributor here in Russia behaves like a partisan hiding and waiting until the enemy (happy customers) gets tired and fixes the problem with their own hands and money.

Does anyone know about Ceed's shock absorbers noise? Onwers from colder places are most welcome! And others too.

Hi, perhaps the extreme cold is reducing the working of your shocks?
This is well known problem with high temperatures on racing cars.
The soloution is to use combined gas and oil shocks.
see these referances.

Tusen takk, Bob,

but I think we already have combined gas and oil shocks and this winter is not so cold as I could expect. People from Moscow and SPB complain a lot but they have around zero weather now.

This is something about low quality valves in shock absorbers not affecting most Ceeds in countries with better roads I guess. But even old Ladas don't knock from behind on what we call "roads" here and Ceed does.

Hope it's not too late: Happy Easter!

Hello.

Here in Romania we have the same problem. Some of us changed the shock absorbers and the noise dissapeared. perhaps this is the answer.

First i thought that maybe there is another way to solve this but i didn't found it.

I want to go to the service and chenge them to.

All the best.

I had a Cee'd 1.4S which was registered in January 2008 but I think it was built in July 2007 according to sticker on front subframe. This car had noisy rear shockabsorbers not too bad though. I traded it in for a new 2008 Cee'd 1.4 SR last Friday because I got a good deal on it and wanted alloy wheels instead of the steel ones on the S model. The sticker on the SR models front subframe is dated February 2008. So far there is no noise coming from the rear suspension. I wonder if they have changed the shock absorbers in the factory because of complaints of early Cee'ds having noisy ones.

What do you mean by noisy shock absorbers?, in my new 1.6 ls sw diesel I have what I would describe as a rubbery squeak that seems to come from the luggage area, which is most noticable when moving fairly slowly

So sad, I'm not alone! Why didn't you post before?

Noise is not the correct word for the problem, the first time it happened I thought of the back shelf trembling - my old Lada used to have this sin but cured easily, this was not the case with my Ceed.

Installation of new shock absorbers may not help solve the problem unless you are lucky to get them from Pro Ceed, some people confirm they have different part numbers and probably better quality. I'm not sure about SW as it was launched recently and also has improved shockers and some facts also show that Ceed HB can be equipped with SW shockers since Jan-Feb 2008 and therefore avoid the problem now.

We have Ceedman here I guess. Can I ask you if you have some comments on rear shock absorbers knocking?

Hmmm, I have always thought that it's the shelf trembling and muttered something about "You get what you pay for" and left it there... I got my ceed July 2007.

Hello friends, my name is Rober and I live in Spain, I have a Cee'd Sw with 3700 kms and since 3000 Kms more or less my car is making a noise in the suspension when I drive trough a (I don't know the word in english , thats things that are in the citys to avoid the high speed, pot hole perhaps?) . The noise is like a cricket, a chirping, and it's more intensive when the weather is cold (between 0-10ēC). Does anybody know something about this? Thanks and sorry for my English
