ok, not noise, only thuds for me then. I hope there will be no squeaks involved in the suspension later on, the ones from the steering wheel are enough.

takksi, as a fellow 1,4 owner, don't hope too much. I get 25-30 in the city with AC on, normal for a small petrol engine. too bad you don't have open roads, mileage almost doubles there.

I've heard from the dealer, that if you say your steering column is making that noise, they will change the (I don't know how to say this in English), but it's the Steering bearings and all that composes it (in Portuguese we call it something like "the steering box").

the consumption works for me just fine. here the 90HP diesel is so 1500€ more expensive, and diesel fuel is more expensive too. it would take me 5 years to level the difference on account of lower consumption. I don't plan on having cee'd that long anyway.

and no, just the wheel is making the noise, more precisely the two plastic parts on the wheel are rubbing against each other

yours is a 1.4? what does it average out? mine is averaging 30mpg - 34mpg but it's still around 480km on the clock. i'm not driving in very bad traffic, but all hills and short strips of road here in Malta, which isn't really ideal for fuel economy.

as soon as you press a bit on the accelerator though, the mpg goes down badly, as in 9mpg - 12mpg

don't look at current consumption, it doesn't mean anything. watch the average, and across 2 or 3 full tanks. my first tank was 7,1 and the next one was 8,8 l/100km (we don't use miles here). you can guess that the first tank was mixed road, the other one almost all city drive.

your mileage is ok.

hmm... the 8.8L/100km is approximately 32mpg... same as mine.

i looked at the average that my car is showing (not the instant). However, on mine you can choose between L/100km or MPG...

Hi. I have the same car as you with this squeak. I believe it is the luggage cover. My noise seems to go when I put the cover back into the holder so there's no cover. I think it's the cover moving up and down causing the squeak. Try it and let me know.

guys... what luggage cover are you referring to? the parcel shelf or the piece of plywood that covers the spare tire? cos something in the back of my car rattles a bit too on humps, but no squeaks yet.
