As I've said before....this 7 year warranty is great, but...

The Kia profit and loss balance sheet is fine as we (or even second hand owners) are shackled to Kia servicing in order to comply with the deal.

If the cars need little attention - costs of servicing will be low.

If faults occur which cost Kia money - servicing costs go up.

What yer gonna do about it! Go elsewhere, and lose your warranty!

Clever - eh!

I thought that you were only tied to Kia if you wanted to transfer the warranty to the next owner. If you intend to run the thing into the ground and take full advantage of the 7/100k then any VAT registered garage using the proper materials would do, or have I got it wrong?

I just spoke to EMG Kings Lynn... they say the difference in their price is that they are accounting for the increase price of the C3 oil....

Is this true... he said its more than double the price... £12 something a litre...

Any responses to this?

Bollox mate, it's always been that price!

When I say always, I mean it was that price per litre from the dealer or Halfrauds when I enquired about servicing costs last November.

Take it somewhere else and tell them why.

One other point, my dealer told me that the service cost was set by Kia. Now when they say that, Kia would only have control over the number of hours charged and the materials used, obviously regional variations will occur due to prevailing labour rates but living where you are should be cheaper than a major town or city?

To clarify the warranty in the UK first 3yrs unlimited mileage, 3 to 7yrs limited to 100,000 miles. You do not have to have the vehicle serviced at a Kia dealership to maintain the warranty or even have it serviced at all as long as the part that fails is not a service related item i.e wheel bearing etc.
Normal wear and tear items have varying limited warranty's.

Thats exactly what I thought too.....

looks like I shall be looking around for servicing...; KIA UK say you can take it anywhere as long as they follow KIA's servicing requirements fully.

Thanks a lot guys for your input
