It seems the trip to the dealer has at least changed the systems behaviour, probably to the point that someone else had commented about - that it needs to run for 30 or so minutes before it reaches a point that it's got control of. This seems to be my experience today. I'm not saying it's acceptable as the CC should be working properly within a few miles, certainly not 30 minutes of driving.
So to sum up: better but no cigar. I'll see how it goes for the next week or so to see if there is now a pattern to how it's working.
Thanks for updates Tim. If you are half happy then the dealer has acheived something!!!

Sounds like there must be a fault with those mentioned here if the car isn't getting cold straight away. Mine works so well I've had the rear seat passangers begging me to switch it off!!!

what is the temp set on ACC and the outside temp? Mine "works" OK if outside +25 and I set it to +18 inside...but if i set it to +24, i will get warm air at first...
one other thing, the ACC brain does not seem to know that wind has a chilling effect; when AC is OFF it should increase the airflow so at least I get a refreshing wind in my face

Sounds like an expensive option Tim, I'd be surprised if a dealer would offer more than £9.75K for it a year on.

This may sound daft but my AC seems to blow cold if set < outside temp and hot if set > outside temp.

It does not seem so good at self regulation.

I often turn it off as it can blow quite cool.

Few more thoughts: it certainly seems better. It's different for sure and seems much better at delivering cool air. This moring it was 19 outside but I had it set to 19.5 and it was blowing cooled air. I think I'm gonna tell 'em it's better but will still keep an eye on it over the coming months. It may be the best it can do but it makes me convinced that I had a problem with mine, seemingly related to the part they say they changed, the sensor fan assy. I'll double check on this next week when it goes in for some wife related, errrm, 'attention' to the front lower bumper.

Even more thoughts:- did a 100 mile run today (50 there and 50 back) with 4 adults in the car (OK, 3 plus me!) and both trips were basically the same weather and 18-19 degrees outside. The CC behaved differently on each trip. 1st trip was really what I would describe as 'broken' and I found the only way to get a sensible temp was to put it on Lo and vary the fan speed - this has been mentioned here before. Coming back I found that soon after leaving pub I had to adjust the temp up from where it was set to Lo and by the time we'd done a few miles I had gradually upped the temp to around 20 where it was comfortable and blowing fairly neutral air.
Any suggestions as to why it should be so different? One minute I think it's fixed, the next it proves me wrong!!

That is exactly how mine behaves, but I find it takes about 45 mins + before it settles down.

It'll be going in for its second service shortly and I'll be talking to them about it, but I'm sure any complaints will be falling on deaf ears

Bunker, I would have agreed about the 'warm up' time (no pun) except for the fact that we were in the pub for 3 hours (family dinner - I had a pint and a half) so I would have thought that given 3 hours to settle down it would have been like starting from scratch when we left but it wasn't. So, I still think it's broke but at least it's probably more like the rest of yours and only a bit broken!

I think that plan B (the VAG one) is the only long term sensible solution

I had kinda hoped that the other car companies might, just might, have upped their warranties to something like 5 years but no, so I'm gonna stick with the cee'd for now and spend my dosh on other, more important stuff.
