Question Plastic load tray for SW

Just taken delivery of my new Cee'd SW 1.6 crdi ls. Dealer says that load tray for the SW is 'under development'. Has anyone bought one for the SW, and if so, where from and how much was it? We do a lot of walking in the Lakes so the back usually gets filled with muddy boots etc. so a removable and washable load tray is essential. I would appreciate any info anyone has on this.

The car is excellent. The diesel engine, in my opinion, is the best out there for this price bracket; quiet, powerful and economical.

If you want any info about this model, just ask and I will do my best to provide it.

Thanks himi. It's red. Red is the new silver. I just thought it looked good with the alloys and silver roof bars. I will post some photos when I get the time.

Still waiting for mine too. Dealer unsure when it'll be ready. Maybe get the best fitting one you can find from Hellford's as a temporary measure?

Glad you're enjoying the new SW. I'm always amazed just how much torque there is in 2nd/3rd/ and even 4th when the turbo is fully pumped, and that's coming from someone who drives a brand new 3.2 V6 TT. The Megane was utterly guttless, Ford agricultural at best, but the Cee'd has just the right amount of poke for the type of car it is.

SW best bits imo:

1. your extra £700 over standard Cee'd gets you cruise control and rear parking sensors.

2. The SW looks like it was designed and not just botched from the standard model (are you listening Renault/Ford!!!)

3. All SWs guaranteed to have indicators on the correct side (left!)

4. Rear legroom is amazing for class of car.

5. Boot is also large.

6. All Cee'd now have folding keyfobs (a must imo)

Negatives:

1. Rear folding seats could be better. Other brands have single sliding movement now.

2. Don't get me started on the lack of iPod album browsing!

Oh gwan gwan gwan gwan... tell us!

I've not been back and moaned about mine again yet. Can't get the car in there for a couple of weeks anyway so I'll do it then, when hopefully they might have an answer for the climate issue.

I still don't get this ipod thing. Buy a 4 meg usb memory stick for around £20 and it will store about 60 albums, probably more. You can leave it in the car without worrying if it gets stolen. How much is an ipod? Dare you leave it in your car? All that plugging in and unplugging and you will soon wear out the usb port. I also think ipods are over priced. My son uses a Samsung and it is much better in sound quality, battery life and price.
I had a look on ebay, richs, but I think I will wait for the Kia one. I am a bit wary of ebay these days.

For me the iPod thing has become a matter of principle - all the advertising states fully iPod compatible from Mid 2007. My car was purchased well after that and isn't as advertised, hence the principle. I'm also happy to 'sacrifice' an old Gen 4 clickwheel iPod to the car, ideally to hold all my music. It'll give me an excuse to buy a shiny new iPod (or iPhone). I agree about the memory sticks, they just seem to work and I've always got at least two in the car anyway. Wear on the USB socket should be covered by the 7 year warranty but if you're not sure then simply use a USB extension cable, cost pence from the likes of EBuyer.
I'm saving to replace the entire head unit and hopefully get DVD and Sat Nav in the process - thats a few months away yet, got a holiday to pay for!

I have my music in iTunes. I connect my iPod and drag music to it. I connect it to the car to listen. I take it into the office and listen while working. I listen to it on the way home. I want all my mobile music in one place. Also, I like listening to this week's podcasts in the car and they all sync to my iPod via iTunes. That's why (ideally) I don't want a separate USB device.
