Unhappy harsh ride

hi.
my father has taken delivery of a ceed 1.6sr and is very happy with the car, apart from the ride quality.
On good roads the ride is acceptable ,but hit a bump or pothole and the whole car jarrs the occupants, it is as if there is no give in the suspension. The dealer says it is a hard ride as standard.
This matter is spoiling his enjoyment of the car and he is hoping it will ease.
do others suffer this same problem? are there any cures??

Thanks

I agree with what your father is experiencing. I also agree with the dealer in that the car was designed for a more sportier ride, ie roadholding, so ride quality will suffer.
I understand that the Hyundai I30 ( virtually the same car as Ceed??) was designed with a much softer ride.

ask to try a demonstrater to see the difference as it may have faulty struts.

If the I30 is softer, you could try to change to some I30 springs!

I think I can imagine why the ride seems harsh but believe me, it's like a soggy sofa compared to some stuff out there!
I can't imagine the shocks are adjustable, are they?

Couple of things. Yes the ride is firm but it's not too bad over speed bumps and stuff. I wonder if they forgot to remove the transportation blocks during the PDI? This happened to someone over on the TT forum and he thought the ride was just deliberately very firm!

Also, is the SR suspension firmer than normal. Does SR stand for Sport?

Were you on the TT forum a while ago? Like 2-3 years?
