something else that irritates me with the USB connection to the ipod is the length of time it takes to read at first which causes an issue with my car starting, as I have to wait for the pre-heat, when i then start the car the brief interruption to the power locks out the USB, which usually results in me having to unplug the connection and reconnect to get it to regognise the device again, which means it starts playing from the first track again.

Never had that happen to mine - it might skip a fraction of a second when it first starts up (or is that the DAB radio at home??) but since getting the iPod working (!) it's stayed plugged in and just works (albeit badly!)

Me too. Never had a problem with the iPod starting up. In fact it only take a couple of seconds.

I spoke too soon - happened to me this evening - playing a random track with engine off, starts engine and it switches to radio, select the aux and nothing, doesn't even see the iPod, just plays the CD that was in there. I had to unplug and re-plug the iPod to get it to see it again. Pile-o-shite (tm)!. Oh well, back to the ICE sites on the interweb and see whats the best price for the Kenwood DXN7200.

This happens to me all the time, so I've booked in my car for Monday to sort it out. Basically it's pot luck if the Aux works or not!!

Can you let us know how it goes - if I've got to take mine in a gain then so be it. It's become a matter of principle now.

I only have the issue with the US port, if i connect the ipod through the 3.5mm Jack conector its fine. It seems to be due to the power interuption when the car turns over.

If you connect through the 3.5mm jack then presumably you have to control the iPod on the iPod itself or do it work if you're using the Kia black cable like that?

Well with just the 3.5mm cable you need to control with the ipod, I want to see if its different with the new KIA cable.

I went into the local dealer this am and he confirmed that there are "all sorts of issues" with the head units and AUX/Ipod ports.... so much so that Kia have been given a set of tests for diagnosing whereabouts the failure is occurring on a vehicle. Mine failed on several tests (no surprise there!) and so I'm getting new ports and a new head unit. It's on back order from Germany though - they are Siemens units - as it's a bit of a problem for all Cee'ds.

So - if you've a problem the dealers should know all about it and they have a test to run.
