Mine does say iPod but thats only cos the dealer added this bit. I dunno if the HU was changed (I suspect it was) but it almost sounds like there are two compatible units, one thats 'fully' compatible and another that isn't quite. If the sort order is changed to 'album' then whats the relationship between the first album played and the next, in other words is the first album earlier in the alphabet than the next or are they related to when they were put on the iPod?
What about my earlier question re 'disk mode' ? does it make a difference?
Starting to look like I'm gonna need to save up for the Kenwood after all - sigh.
Just done some more testing but still nothing. I've tried two different iPods - Nano v1 and Nano v2. I've also tried connecting with a normal iPod USB cable and the headunit connects but says "USB Empty".
So have Kia removed the ability to connect an iPod using a standard USB cable in place of their own hybrid dual USB/AUX cable? Whatever, still no album skip
My dealer says I should take it in so they can rule out it just being my car, so I'll make sure we test on old non iPod compatible Cee'ds, iPod compatible Cee'ds, and their showroom iPod compatible SW just to be thorough. If it looks like an oversight, I'll be registering this as a fault. After all, it's totally unusable.

asty,
your sounds different to mine - I'm using the standard iPod white USB cable. The car has the word iPod between the two sockets in the centre console (this bit was fitted on Tues) but I can't really see how this bit is gonna be any different from a non marked one - a USB socket is a USB socket after all.
Can't see how the 'hybrid' cable can make a blind bit of difference.
I agree - it's totally unusable in any practical sense - to me, random play is useless - if I wanna listen to the Killers then thats cos I don't want to listen to Jackson Browne followed by Bob Marley and then the Eels! etc!
Just tried my iPod in disk mode and still says "USB Empty" with a standard USB cable, and tries to read with the hybrid cable but just bombs out and thinks nothing is connected.
Tim,
I have an SW which has only ever been made with full iPod compatibility. It came with a hybrid cable (picture on the SW thread) purely for iPods.
I'm fed up testing tonight but I'll definitely be chasing his up with the dealer and Kia UK.

Mine is the same as Tims - I use the IPod USB cable (my ipod is an older, mini one) but the < > skips albums, in order, and the <<>> skips tracks. Is it something to do with the way the songs are stored on our Ipods? (just to throw something else in I've just tried out my Sony Walkman phone, via USB, and it also skips albums happily, and displays song titles and artist)

Anyone know if you change an iPod to 'Disk mode' and then format the thing, will it let you treat it like it's a USB drive, copy MP3s onto it and it'll behave? I accept it won't be an iPod any longer but if it gives me a 40GB memory stick that works then I'm prepared to sacrifice the wretched thing to the cee'd!
Do you mean so you can name the folders as albums?
If so I doubt it as Im sure the Manual mentioned something about a maximum number of files on an MP3 device, the number 299 rings a bell but I would need to check.

Yeah, format the ruddy thing, get rid of all those folder and hidden stuff and then just fill her up with MP3s. If there is a limit then 299 is going to be a pain anyway. I'm now seriously starting to think of an alternative HU - which'll shut me up eh?
Im seriously thinking about just keeping a few MP3 CD's in the car, cost nowt to make instead of having the ipod issue or the expense of several usb drives if there is a file limit.

Yeah, that is an option but in my other car I can use DVDs for MP3s so to go back to 650MB CDs seems so lo-tech! (I know, stupid really but having got used to it....)
