Got 1 week old Ceed sw 1.6 crdi and am very pleased.
Engine is mighty (match for the 2.2DCi Primera I had) but I have noticed one thing that I wonder if others have experienced....
While driving progressively i.e with some pace, the engine performs wonderfully. But if I daudle along, say start doing 50mph in 4th on flat, with my foot barely pressing on the gas, the engine sometimes seems to falter - like it hiccups and urges to go forward.
It feels like when you drive too slow in too high a gear and the engine baulks.
Anyone had this feeling under foot?
If not... I'll be straight down to make use of the warrenty!
I used to have this in the early stages, mines now done 6500miles and the engine is much freeer. Will quite happily poodle along at 45mph in 5th. Much less than this & it gets the Hicupps.

I have experienced something like that twice durng the past month. It happened when doing about 90 km/h in 5th gear when driving slightly downhill. It feels like the engine doesn't know whether to cutoff the fuel supply or not. One of the times I used the cruise control, the other time was without cruise, with the foot barely touching the pedal.
Was planning to drop by the dealer to have it checked out.
Happened much more on the way home tonight. When driving normally, it feels like the turbo can't give it's full boost. Will see how good Kia dealership engine diagnostics is now...
Car is 9 days old. Done 825 miles - A roads + motorway. Not above 72, mostly 50-60.
Had it in the garage today for the hiccup / hesitation. They said nothing wrong - just normal turbo lag.
Probably only had it out for 10 minutes, and if they drove it progressively they'd have not noticed anything.
It's when doing the daily commute over 40 minutes that you notice it and you can never predict but it is typically when you are driving like an old grodger, like doing 50mph in 4th on a flat A road. The engine will just falter then jerk, falter then jerk a couple of times, by which time you either lift off the gas, which pulls it into shape, or press on the gas which does the same.
It's a bit like a mild version of driving a small petrol engine at 20mph in 5th, and it's just about to stall, but gives you a few warnings signs first. (A mild version of that)
Or well, sod it. It doesn't feel like it should happen or that the engine is partly happy about it, but such is life. If engine gets damaged, I'll have a new one thanks very much.
Not sure if you were told this or not but the EMS takes the first 500 or so miles to settle in & adjust to your stye of driving, it maybe that's the feelings your getting, just treat her like a lady (til it's run in after 10k) & you'll be fine I'm sure!

I have had this hiccup problem from new. I have noticed it is not as bad when it is very cold and worst after a long motorway journey followed by a slow dawdle uphill as I decelerate then try to gently accellerate at around 1500 - 2000 rpm at lower or higher revs it is ok.
The stall that occurs is like it is hunting for fuel sometimes only a hint and other times a total engine stop.
I have had the car 2 months and have driven 7000 miles so the engine should be settled in.
I will be taking the car back to the garage soon when I mentioned it to the service manager he said "you must make sure your left foot is well clear of the brake and clutch pedals as this is probably the problem"
Thirty years of driving and repairing cars, twenty eight years an apprentice trained engineer and 400000 miles covered in the last nine years as a service engineer I think I know how to operate a car.
Yeah, me still got it, despite 3.5k miles in 2 months. It does feel like a fuel stavation when trying to drive gently with little pressure on throttle.
Turbo lag my arse. This has nothing to do with acceleration and the associated lag.
I actually drive around the problem now. When it happens I just lift off totally, or if nothing too close in front, I just rag it.
