Considering I have gone from (in metres folks!)
..................... Micra K11(1993) to Cee'd (2007)
Length .............. 3.695 ............... 4.625
Width ............... 1.585 ............... 1.790
Wheelbase ...... 2.360 ............... 2.650
Turning circle.. 10.1 ............... 10.34
and my designated parking space is in between another car on one side, a vine, tree and pergola on the other, a parked motorbike (in various positions), to the rear right, another set of pergolas+trees plus parked car to the rear, not to mention that to enter said parking area you have to turn off from road too narrow to take a dustbin lorry, with parked cars on same side as entrance and more often than not at least two cars parked on pavement opposite (all foot and a half of it), down an incline of 1/10 with walled side and gate 20 cm across an opening which car clears probably just 15 or so cm either side .... I would say pretty damned good!
The Micra I would whip in, swing over by m'bike and reverse into space.
Now I try to do the same but the visibility with the Cee'd is poorer (I go mostly on instinct and have the tears ready if I hear scraping LOL), plus because the doors are larger I try to park further from the vine/trees so doors open OK, but fella on left side keeps bringing his car over and over my way (so I left him a little note! A very polite one mind!) so lately I park forward in .... which makes it a nightmare (only in my head tho not in reality, cos I only got 2 eyes and I need 14) reversing back out. The parking space is the prob not the car's turning circle.
It has also manoeuvred happily in Lidl's microcarpark (more columns than spaces!)
I do no 'whipping in' anywhere with my new pride and joy! Apart from the fact that I have to lean up and out to actually see the bonnet ... with the seat height at max! (No I am not a dwarf! The height is at max cos it's better for my back, not because I can't see) and obviously it needs a bit bigger space to park in I cannot say I have noticed the difference in exterior size anywhere near as much as I thought I would - the inside is a different kettle of fish - I can fan my elbows without touching the other half - no passnger knee bumping on gear change, no more my knee knocking on steering column.
You want a tank - the Qashqui felt like I was in a tank, and I really wanted to like that car :-( Though I haven't driven one so it might not feel like a tank to manoeuvre. (I would really have loved another Nissan but here you get so little for your money and Nissan ain't what it was!)
It sounds like you are generally disappointed with your choice of the Cee'd tho. Shame.
