Dead radio
Wife has just informed me the radio / CD in the cee'd has died!
Sure enough it's totally dead, won't even accept a CD.
When asked what happened she said she pressed the 'MP3 button on the right' and it made a 'not quite right sort of noise then nothing'
There is no 'MP3' button on the right, only a blanked off button for a CD-changer. As there is nothing there to really press I can only think her trying to press this was a coincidence as she'd just ejected a CD right before it died. Gonna have to take it back to the dealer some time next week - gonna ask 'em to get the iPod working too - that'll be interesting to see what happens!
Will also mention the duff climate control too. Been driving the other car this week and basically leave it set on 21 degrees and never need to touch it.
Just remembered my post asking about replacing the radio - wonder if the car read this and got the hump???

I'll answer me own post...
Car went in today for fixing - They say they've ordered a new head unit but the one in there is working again (possibly a fuse, I didn't check, why should I?). In the small list of problems I moaned about the no-working iPod and how all the advertising mentioned it, how the website said it would be available mid-2007 / July. I reckon the new head unit is more to address that than much else - I certainly hope so anyways.
look back a few weeks in the posts, i had the same problem.
its a batch of faulty head units, all manufactered at the same time, all with dodgy software, so get the garage to replace the unit. kia uk know about the problem.

Thanks Kevin. I didn't think it was quite the same though as yours seemed to freeze and then, presumably work again (for it to freeze again) Mine did it the once and totally died, never to come back. Saying that after the visit where I was told a new one was on order it's been working so unless the dealer was able to reset something or replaced a fuse then I dunno whats happened. Maybe they stuck one in there out of a demo or something.
my headunit would be frozen, or completly dead until i pulled the two radio fuses out for 5 mins, that seemed to reset it, it would work fine then, sometimes for a week or more and then do the same again.

Heard from local garage today that radio is in and I'm in tomorrow at 13.30 for it to be fitted, guy said it was a while you wait job - I wanna watch see how easy it is, particularly if I fancy replacing it at some point. Wonder if I'm gonna get any grief about the iPod issue??
I hadn't realised your radio went totally dead like mine - nothing on the top display, wouldn't accept a CD, nada!

Minor news but nothing exciting (yet!). Dealer phoned andsaid to bring car in next week (Monday) - they have a fix to get iPod working. I won't hold my breath but at least it's sounding hopeful. If it still doesn't work I guess I could ask what they'll do to keep me happy - I'd accept a decent 8GB flash memory stick I think.
If that fails then I start saving for a Kenwood DXN7200, by which time I'd hope a suitable fascia for the cee'd is available.

Result!!
I've now a working iPod in the cee'd. Dunno if they changed the head unit but they've certainly put a new USB / 3.5mm jack next to the 12V outlet. This time it's got the iPod wording marked on there. Plug the iPod in and it works. Didn't get the short black cable, doesn't seem to need it.
Artist names all weird though, I seem to remember someone saying about this?
Anyone got any tips for best way to organise stuff on the iPod?
