It's ok , I have got an answer to my own question!!

Collected my new Cee'd today and took it for a run, in fifth running at 100kph it says on the dash it is using 6l/100km so this is approx 47mpg, not bad at all Kia

Great car too btw.

When doing 120-130 on the highway with the A/C on and 2 people inside my 1.4 does 6.4-6.5l/100kph, so this is comparable with your numbers. Here in Greece (Athens) we need A/C during summer because temperatures are over 30 degrees every day for at least 2 months.

In June i had the opportunity early morning to drive without A/C, that's when i did 6.0-6.1/100kph. And at that time the car was brand new (bought it 15/06).

Have done so far 4.650 kms, am very happy with the car in general.
Having previous experiences with Opel.Vauxhall, VW, Renault i feel that i finally bought a car that is not overpriced.

Thanks for the reply.

Do you reckon as the car engine gets more mileage on it that the MPG improves??

As the engine 'beds in' your fuel consumption will improve. Everything in the engine is (well it should be) 'tight' at the moment.
After a few 000's miles you will see an improvement.

Great, because today while driving approx 200km I could have sworn I saw the needle moving

I have the 1.6 CRDi, the 'official' figures are 60.1 mpg (combined), I am getting approx 52 - 54 mpg now with 8600 miles on the clock.
I am a 'steady' driver no heavy right foot, no heavy breaking !!!

I'll let everyone know how I get on with mpg as soon as I pick up my car - only a week to go. I'm hoping to be getting in excess of 55 mpg as that'll make my daily commute a 'gallon a day' which is pretty good IMHO. I used to get 47 out of a 2.0l Vauxhall Vectra which I felt was pretty poor considering I usually get over 30 from a 3.5l petrol engined sports car. I've ordered a bunch of extras for the Cee'd including front and rear parking assist, scuff guards and a tailgate spoiler, all of which were not cheap despite the website pricing.

I got approx 67 mpg from my dealers LS CRDI . I have had my own new LS CRDI for exactly for one week and thus far after 300 miles the mpg on the computer is 62.6 mpg. Most of my driving is smooth no interruption motorway at 55-65 mph in left lane .

Anything over 60mpg would be fantastic. My daily commute is mainly A-roads but traffic varies considerably to the point where it's very difficult to average over 40mph (28 mile journey) despite most of the distance being NSL, the rest 30 and a short stretch of 50.
