just got myself a ceed and its running really well so far, really impressed with it. However, one slight problem i plug my ipod in an it does nothing, has anyone got this working? also when i play the ipod through the aux in the right hand side of the cars speakers dont work, they work when the radio is on or the CD player and when a usb memory stick it plugged in. I have tried another ipod and cable, as well as various Aux cables but still no success. any information would be much appreciated!!!!

I have used my son's Ipod, but it only played a few of the tracks, probably the way that he had them stored in seperate folders. I normally use a memory stick (with MP3's on it) plugged directly into the USB slot and everything workd perfectly. I woulf get it to the dealer and get it checked out.

Why are you connecting it with an 'aux' cable. The best way to connect an ipod is via USB. You should have a cable with you ipod that connects to the base of you ipod at one end and ends in a usb plug at the other. This is what you want to plug into the USB port on your Cee'd. This way the ipod is sending data out to the car system and the car system then handles turning that into an audio output to the sepakers. Also this way you can use the on wheel 'skip track' buttons to control the ipod (data) output.
In theroy you should also be able to use the headphone out socket of you ipod plugged into the aux in of the car, but this is a way inferior way of connecting. This way the ipod is not outputting data but an audio signal. You will then have to match the output volume of this audio signal using the ipdos volume so that it is not too high or low for the car system and you will not be able to control the ipod re skipping tracks with the on wheel controls.
cheers guys. I am still struggling with the ipod connection to be honest, iv got the right cable but when i plug it in the do not disconnect comes up on the screen but it goes no further than that. I think it may have something to do with the formats that the car supports. Reading the manual i dont think AAC the format most ipod songs are in works, only mp3's bit of a con if you ask me!

Yes the ipod will display 'do not disconnect', a bit worrying but it stops displaying it when you disconnect
I think you are right about the formats. All the tracks on my ipod are in mp3 format. You could of course convert your tracks from acc to mp3 format. There are several freeware convertors around, though if the tracks have DRM enabled version of ACC encoding you might have problems.
Has anybody had any problems with the AUX not playing out of the right hand speakers in the car? i dont think i will bother ocnverting all my music but it owuld be good to plug it in to the aux to play it! however not matter which aux cable i use or devise to play through it no sound comes out of the right hand side!! its werid because the speakers work all the time with any of the other modes! anyone got any ideas?!!
Not tried the aux port on my ceed yet but if I can find time and a lead I'll give it a go and report back when I can. To be honest though from the desciption of the problem it sounds like (two) inccorect leads to me. The plugs at both end of the lead should have 3 connection points (or to describe it another way 2 'black plastic rings' crearting three seperate 'parts' to the jack). If either end of the leads you have tried so far have only 2 connection points (or only one black ring) then they are mono leads not stereo ones and would produce exactly the problem you list (sound out of only one of the stero channels).
In any case I'll try and test mine out and let you knwo how I get on when I get a chance.
I just picked up my new Cee'd today (in The Hague, Holand). To my disappointment it didn't seem to have the proper Ipod connection as descibed in the manual. The connection cable shown in the manual (with a combined USB/AUX plug) wasn't delivered with my Ceed. Needless to say, the Ipod didn't work.
I tried a few things and then decided to change the Ipod settings, so that it operated as a harddisk. You can change that in the 'Ipod options' menu in Itunes.
After that I reconnected the Ipod, solely through the USB-plug, and it worked fine. Maybe this will solve your problem?
could i just ask what format your music is in on your ipod? its just iv tried copying a few tracks of my ipod in AAC format and needless to say it doesnt work! so im not sure if my ipod will work even if i convert it to a disk drive.

When I had the three day test drive here in the UK, I tried my Gen 4 iPod (40G and it didn't work at all. It initially said it was 'reading' (I think) but did nothing, despite waiting for nearly half an hour. iPod only had about 6GB on there at the time, all of it was .mp3 format. I'm hoping my new cee'd will have working iPod capability when I get it in Sept - if it doesn't, it's going back to the dealer until it does!
Memory sticks worked fine though!
