Default Any other Cee'd owners out there???

Hi,

I'm surely not the only Cee'd owner on the forum, am I?

I now have 3700 miles on my Cee'd. I have just done a trip down to Horsham, Sussex, a round trip of 530 (ish) miles and my fuel consumption has now gone to 50.4 MPG. I must admit, I have turned the A/C off so that will give better figures.

My car has now got a total of 102 running hours (it's great the information that you get out of the trip computer !!).

So, is there any other Cee'd owners? So we can then 'compare' figures, experiences etc.

Default You must be!

At the mo I think you are the only one! I have been hunting for owner's opinions on the Cee'd but haven't yet found any owners! So what do you think of it so far? Does it handle bumpy roads well cos I read it has quite a sporty response (ie does it absorb the bumps) or is it like sitting on our local bus (very rickety)? (or my Dad's Astra sport - ouch, ouch!!) It's a really nice car, we are thinking of buying one but I am still a bit stuck as to whether my back will cope with it or not. Be interested in a round-up of what you like & what you don't so far. Which model have you got? (if with a sunroof, is it any good?).

Hi drzeus

So many questions.....

Well...

Regarding the bumpy roads, it handles them well, as I am led to believe the Cee'd was tested on roads presumably worse than UK roads.

It is 'firm' but agile at the same time.

I got the 1.6 CRDi LS, which is the top range (at the moment) diesel (113bhp).

It does not have a sunroof but it does have full climate control.

Prior to getting the Cee'd, I was driving a Laguna 1.9 DCi Privilege Sports Tourer, and I can honestly say I like the Cee'd better.

The fuel ecenomy is getting better now (3700 miles) so it is returning around the 50mpg.

I would recommend the vehicle to anybody, smooth, reasonably quiet (but arn't all new cars?), decent audio and the 7 years-100,000 mile warranty.

From what I hear from my folks back home I imagine you havent had much chance to test out the climate control efficiency when its hot LOL (sorry, it's just baking where I am and one of the main reasons we are def getting a new set of wheels is cos we cant take the heat any more without a/c!). At the moment we have a very old Micra . We hired a Renault Scenic II last year on offer and the driver's seat (well all the seat really) was fantastic. I have a herniated disc and it does not like bumps much or having my knees higher than my hips and the Scenic was brill. But they are so darn expensive ... and well .... they are Renault! Not exactly renowned for reliability. That was the second I had hired over the years, the first (R9) had to be jiggled to start every time you switched the eng off, this Scenic (only 7km on the clock) suffered complete electrical failure in the middle of nowhere of course!
So I am sticking with Asian I think!
The Cee'd looks great I reckon. Nice specs and basic equipment (most of which you have to pay extra to get in eg Nissan models). I like the finishing touches of silver here and there (a nice boy's toy)(or tomboy's toy;-)) without having to pay out an arm and leg. My uncle is on his 3rd Kia and loves em so ... I think we could be giving it a try. Will have to test drive soon ... just hoping that what I read about it being firm doesnt equate it to Dad's car. Diesel isnt available here yet (nor is the 1.6, but the 1.4 still has more oomph than my 75hp Micra).

If you check UK Kia Sorento Forum - Home a couple of members have had the Ceed on loan - they may be able to give you some answers. There is a thread under "Kia news and press" (Other Topics).

If they are going to buy, does that mean they will join this forum??

Not necessarily - but more than welcome. We even have a Disco owner who contributes regularly .

Maybe here are not many Ceed owners, but out there, there must be many of them. Kia got 60.000 orders for their new Ceed!!

Default Test drove, but still have reservations.

Thanks for the Sorento forum link.
Well, did a Cee'd test drive yesterday. Nice feel, nifty mover. Felt like I was sat on a jiggly wobble board though. Our roads aren't brilliant here but even on our relatively smooth A-road there was vertical movement, not so much as to be uncomfortable exactly, but definitely noticeable. Not something I have ever noticed in any car before. Weirdest thing was my back was hurting when I got in but wasn't when I got out! Go figure that one! Back at the showroom, I pushed down on the corner above the rear wheel arch, you know ... to make it bounce. No discernible bounce! I couldn't push any harder. Not sure what that means.
The Internet is a bad thing. I have been reading up on the specs and model variations for ages. then I get to the showroom and get told there's this, this or this. No options except different model version. "You mean the option of cruise control isn't an option?" "No. "
"... the automatically adjusting rear-view mirror ...?" "No." "Nothing?" "No."

So, easy to be just given the one sat in some showroom at non-showroom prices. Then I read on a Greek forum some dealer was offering the parking sensor free! So are there options or not? And if there are, why would the dealer say there aren't, except to get shot of some cars they already have?
I wish I was back in UK!
They seem to be confused on the colours here too. I like the nice metallic blue that I see on the Kia website and on the Kia pamphlet cover here (the Abyss Blue I think it is). Anyone seen one in the flesh? The sample swatch they showed us was more like midnight blue! Nothing like the photos I have seen. I know print and JPG images aren't like each other or often like the real thing, but this wasn't even close.
And is the immobiliser/alarm standard across all models or not? Or does that depend on where you are buying? In a Greek review it showed the boot carpet lifted up and a shallow overlaid stowaway installed between it and the rest of the boot below. But in the showroom model we saw it was just carpet over spare wheel. Alarmin, is that what yours is like? None of these things is major, but I like to know in full up front exactly what I am getting for my extremely hard earned money.

Reading too about the fact that I will buy it at x price then find 2 months later they drop the price a lot so it will be even harder to sell on also makes me hesitant.
Plus the Hyundai i30 will be along shortly. I like the cool blue dash lighting. Haven't seen much about the rest of it. Can someone clear me up on of the two Kia vs Hyundai, which is the more 'upmarket' of the two? Will the plastic on the Hyundai be better or worse? The ride the same or softer? Is one to the other like VW is to Skoda, Lexus to Toyota ? Or nothing like that? How good are Kia at upholding their warrantees? (UK is lucky with Cee'd, here it is still 5+2 yrs)

For the 1.4 Intense Cee'd model on the Greek market I am tempted to go back to the Scenic II basic model (300 E's cheaper) because the ride was so much more comfy, driving position so much higher, even though it won't have ESP, and some other bits and bobs. But dammit its French! They have crap reputation for reliability - I checked out their recall list - it was 5 pages long! But is that because they are so bad or very responsible?

Confused, somewhat indecisive and trying not to be overswayed by 7 yr warranty and dealer's offer of free service (if there were options perhaps he'd throw one in too!) or the fact that it's getting hot here and the future hold images of me baking at 40+C in the Micra for yet another summer!!!!!!

Hi drzeus

My boot is a bit 'full' at the moment, but I think there is carpet, then an underlay then the spare wheel, but I am not 100% on the underlay.
Where are you? What option vehicles do you have?
In the UK, they have just/or very soon release a 'new' model 'Cee'd SR'
- KIA Motors
If you get one, are you going for petrol or diesel?
