Following pictures are of our future supercharged Ce'edxR for the European market later this year. Sportier in many ways than the standard Ce'ed. Be interested in your comments here. Later will also be our Ce'ed wagon and 3-door coupe.
Hey Schnauzer,
Nice pics from No. 231, but that XR isn't going to happen. There's no way Kia can market the car in Europe as the XR brand is owned by Ford. Besides, any product decisions on cee'd will be made in Frankfurt, not Korea, as cee'd is a pure European product. Still a long way to go with the ED...
Maybe a turbo version would be better??! ;o)

Would that be a different turbo to what the current 1.6 CRDi LS has???

The xR in the picture is turbocharged.
The brand is Kia with trim named xR. There is no copyright problem using xR in such cases. If there were, we would deal with it in Korea and not in Germany. Many vehicles have use of various trim branding among companies including SX, LX, GL, GLS, etc. It would matter if we were naming the vehicle "xR" but it is a Cee'd with the xR trim.
Yes, the Cee'd is a pure European product BUT final say on its development comes through our HQ in Seoul and not vice versa as you think. I do not care to argue the point because it is not important. Let's be happy we have lessen our control to Europeans! The best move we have made in years!

Hey Schnauzer,
No argument at all - we are Kia friends!
Your explaination of xR is enlightening. I was not aware it was possible to use xR trim in Europe.
Is the xR CRDi you show with VGT, or is it gasoline with turbo? Or is it linear supercharged, with belt drive? Personally, I think the 2.0-litre CRDi will be a favourite in Europe - we need to see it on the roads with low suspension, 18-inch rims and rear xR spoiler.
You are right - Europe is growing and now with the design of Peter Schreyer - pro_cee'd and ex_cee'd are the stars of the future!

Hi Lift...(haha long name there!)! In this instance only, the Cee'd xR, as pictured earlier in this section, is powered by a new petro turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder developed by Hyundai and Kia engineering teams in-house. A xR CRDi willbeoffered but maybe not at release date due to production factors. Details won't be made public for a bit until all the elements are in place to share. Peter Schreyer is a terrific team player with an eye for making Kia shine among our competition. He is an amazing person with strong characteristics that creates excitement wherever he goes within our company. He is so well respected outside of Kia that he brings credibility to our future plans in Europe. Exciting times to be a part of Kia.
I have passed on your comments which I also appreciated. I seriously do take interest in posts here on the forum. Thank you Lift.

That's what I want - something a little larger to replace my storming Skoda Fabia Vrs turbo diesel - which I really love. Around 175 hp should be enough to hold station with the faster Audi diesel crowd - and all at a baragin price, I hope .....
on the pics is a standart ceed with tuning acessories xR etc available even for 1.4 petrol engine so everyone could say this is fakin turbocharged
and the supa-dupa 2.0 crdi engine is not the new one - its an engine taken from Kia Sportage.
only 1.6 VGT crdi engines is the new ones. so far i know this autumn there should appear new 2.0 crdi engines with 150h.p. against 140h.p. @ old
