G`day .The Carnival has a K5 motor which is a varient of the KV6 on Landrover Freelander,Rover 825 .These engines only differ on The camshaft gears, which are totally different. The bottom end however is the same.Same block, same crank, same pistons. The ECUs might be different and might not be adaptable.A KV6 Motor has lots of things on the top end which you wont find on a standard Kia Carnival.

Oh you are in UK.The Sedona is a carnival. You have a K5 Motor.May you take some photos of your main wiring Loom connector in the engine bay.The one close to the brake master cylinder.

Default Kia Carnival swap conversion engine K5 alternative

Technically its a k5 Engine...
an "improved version" of the Rover KV6 with different air intakes/heads.

Apart from the new Kia motor replacement option - Was available in Australia as a FULL complete engine spare part - configured to a particular auto box configuration (will need to transfer bottom end cover and drive plate adaptor if you have different box/manual.

This is what our Malaysian brothers wack in:
Naza Ria Convert Enjin Toyota V6 2.5 SIAP PASANG - Car Accessories & Parts for sale Selangor - Mudah.my

Car Accessories & Parts for sale in Malaysia: naza enjin - Mudah.my

NAZA RIA & KIA CARNIVAL
TUKAR ENGINE TOYOTA V6 2.5 2MZ
& (NISSAN CEFIRO VQ25DE) & MITSUBISHI 6A13

They need new mounts, drive shafts etc

Nissan is probably the best performer
Stay away from the VQ25DD - the direct fuel injection engines had a bad reliability record.

And as much as a Turbo may appeal. Consider the Turbo lag for a heavy van vehicle.
Not so great when accelerating across an intersection...

How 'bout that?? ...A ToyKia KIAstine Clown (from the Carnival)...Bet that takes a lot of modifications including the ECM/ECU...Motor mounts...drive shafts....
I wonder if the Speedo works correctly with the "Toy" parts?
You know the Japs and Koreans don't read or talk the same :-)

Just did a quick check, the Kia spare part engine is no longer available.
It got harder and harder to get - and is now no longer listed as being able to get in by the Dealers. Must have been popular !
