Default Cold start rough-running for 10 secs

Can anyone advise? Particularly during winter, but also now (in France so Spring temps) when 1st starts (Diesel 2.9) runs rough for maybe 10 secs. Then all becomes normal and smooth for remainder of day. I have changed the in-line air heater and all filters are current. No leaks visible. It's a 2000 model.

Not an expert on your model.
But maybe do an engine additive oil flush.
Ensure your valve lifters are operating smooth.
(what mileage is vehicle, how regular oil changes)

Try a different oil grade..

Others will have better suggestions.

Default Maintenance etc

Car has completed 150,000 miles, with me since 60,000. Oil/Filter changed every 5000 and fuel/air filter changed every 10,000. Have just recently added a fuel-additive designed to 'clean' the innards...but only 250Km since. Our UK mechanic on phone thinks it may be a 'dripping' injector at start up. This instead of a 'misting' of fuel air.......Funny part is as soon as the 'misfire' stops, it runs superbly.

Your mechanic should know his local cars & problems.

But its an engine oil additive I mentioned.
FTC decarbonizer is what we use here in Australia.
They have a fuel additive as well, but you are already trying that.
500km is usually a response window on that..
I would not have thought FTC needed with that mileage though..

What oil grade are you using?
Do you park it indoors? (waffling but cold moisture air first up is always a problem...)
Also, check temp sensors (engine & coolant) plug contacts are all clean.
Computer will expect temp readings to be similar at start I'd expect...
Check your glow plug relay etc.
Replug you electronic ignition box cable connections.
How old is the battery?
There must be somebody else closer to you in climate knowledge.
Apologies.
I just run old David Brown diesel Tractors...
And some rough cold morning starts on them is normal !

Default Still searching!

Thanks for advice to-date. First off servicing is meticulous, good oils, regular filter changes etc. New battery, turns engine well. One mechanic (at a distance) thought it may be a 'dripping' injector at start up. Interesting. I did wonder at the function of the Lambda sensor...if this malfunctions, can it cause rough starting? I've thought also of the diesel fuel pump....and so it goes on. Once running, maybe after 10 seconds, all is fine and dandy....??If anyone has simplar experiences or more ideas, I'd be pleased to hear them.
