Sludge build up if maintenance was lacking. Usually easy to see through the oil fill.

Main engine mount(top, belt side). Tend to be noisy over time(creaking, vibration).

Coolant pipes to rear rust and leak. Have seen a lot of these engines with popped head gaskets, warped/cracked heads even after only one overheat. Keeping coolant in these engines is important.

Also, ignition coils are subject to crack, which can cause random/multiple and even cat to melt.

+1. I forgot about the coils. Its fairly common for a misfire to cause a warm-up cat(on the manifold) to melt and disintegrate, which in turn could result in the main cat to clog.

Not a huge deal, but the idler and tensioner pulleys on the AC/alternator belt get VERY noisey. I haven't seen one fall apart, but the noise would be enough for me to replace them.

The steering intermediate shaft u-joint tends to bind up causing a binding feeling when turning. Keep an eye on the power steering cooler as well. They are located behind the front bumper at the bottom of the radiator support. They tend to seep/leak, eventually causing pump damage if not fixed.

I am new also, and can't yet post a new thread. So thought I'd piggy back here. We recently bought a 2003 Sedona EX. We need an owners manual. I found one online that is for "a 2003 Kia Sedona wagon & EX LX". I would like to be sure if it is correct one. The wording confused me a little - the wagon and LX stuff. Also - a light on the dash came on a few days ago that says "O/D OFF". What is that? I have thought and thought - can't solve the riddle. Thanks

okay - let me give an addendum to my reply. I'm not a total dork, I figured O/D off meant the overdrive was off. I did a little more online search and found how to turn it back on. The button was accidently pushed while we were in San Fran and going up and down those dreaded hills, and were using the lower gears.

Agree with the above. In Pensacola you will probably not have rear heater pipe problems. Its the salt from up north that causes the pipes to rust. I bet you are wishing the ac worked better. Tough to get it cooled down on a sunny day in traffic.
