The speed sensor is in the same location on the auto.

You can get these images from the KiaTech web site - see my sig for link.

For service info register (free) with KiaTechInfo and click on 'Shop' on the left, and for elect schematics click on 'ETM'.

Quality and not quantity counts.

Sig image is 500X100 at 11.7 kb

I would imagine the gear boxes are different to the ones on KiaTech, it only shows the American engines and boxs not the uk/Euro/asian model engins and boxes

There are two sensors that are notorious for failing.
But you'd have a box that stays locked in safe mode generally...

Look for little plugs atop the gearbox that has wires running to 'em
Check these connections as the plastic becomes brittle, and easily gets loose if working nearby...

The manual box has that drop in rotary oil level/switch sensor/indicator.

I did a post about the speed sensors for an auto box a while back.

Family man with Kia Carnival 2001
KV6 petrol engine variant.
Rebuilds after years of using as a 4WD substitute...

Hi,

My box is not in safe mod. I've ordered the sensors for my "piece of mind" and will try them. Issue is I wonder it the speedo is actually faulty. The taco works fine and my limited understanding says that if the speedo and taco are both electronic.... Please correct me if I'm ion the wrong track?
