Default Diesel Injector Problems

Hi, I need a new injector for my 2.9 sedona, they are to dear from kia so i've tried to source one from a scrapyard, the problem i have is i've been told to cross reference the numbers on the injector with the chassis number to make sure they are compatable, however i'm not on great terms with my kia dealer so i'm not sure how to go about this, also is this my best option regarding replacing the injector? thnks in advance.

Do you know the reason for needing a new injector ? i.e. you may be able to identify where a ticking/chuffing noise is coming from, but do you know to root cause ?

Hi, i've had the head skimed due to a blown head gasket and one injector appears to be damaged, i'm thinking this because one cylinder is not fireing and they had a strugle to remove them.

okay fair enough. I asked because a faulty injector can be because the fuel pump is breaking up and metal particles enter the system wrecking them.

Re the injector, yep they need to be coded to the ecu. But if you've managed to get yours out, get in touch with Independent Diesel Services in Halifax. You can post it to them and they will put it on a test rig for ~£11 quid. Then it will either get flushed through and refurbed or...condemed. A new one from them is ~£165 quid.

Out of interest, what mileage is your Sedona and what symptoms did you get for the busted head gasket ? Its one of the few things left that hasn't yet happened to mine ( mileage 134000 ). Do you tow caravans with it??

I had overheating problems and bubbles in the expansion bottle, i believe this was caused by the rear heating pipes failing, i had these replaced with heating hose as suggested on this forum, the problem for me then was i believed the overheating and bubbles was air in the heating system (wishfull thinking) but this was not the case. I've never towed anything with this sedona.

What is the obvious sign of an injector issue? Is it a ticking sound or poor running etc excessive consumption?
