Default sedona sedimentor light and loss of power

The fuel filter sedimentor warning light came on a afew days ago. I drained the filter twice and refilled the filter [bulb type of pressuriser]. The light is still on.

I subsequently changed the fuel filter and re pressurised as per the handbook, the light is still on and now driving feels as if there is a lumpy delivery of power and struggles above 3000rpm.

Any idea's ? - Does the ECU go to limp mode if this light is on for a while ?

cheers

Iain

its had a new filter. But the light stays on. Power fluctuation seems to have gone now, I guess it was just air in the system.

Anyone any ideas to turn the light off ?

Iain,
Have you tried disconnecting the battery and leaving it for a few hours to see if it will reset itself. Good luck.

Highlander.

Progress - Kind of

Ran the tank down till the fule warning light was on plus about 20 miles. Took the car to BP and filled up with Ultimate diesel.

Ran the car for about 15 miles and the light then went out. Stopped the engine restarted after a few minutes and the light went out after about 1 min.

This morning, light went out after about 9 miles.

So I suspect that maybe I had a bad batch of fuel and its now working its way thro.

I'm going to drain the filter again tomorrow and update here.

Cheers

p0ssible you have some water in the system so suggest keep draining the bowl also seem to remember a suggestion of putting some meths through the system or take the filter off again and make really sure there are no contaminants in the bowl

Hi Glen, i've taken it off a couple of times now and it does seem to go off after about 2 miles now, i'm sure that the sensor is ok, so as you say and as i think, i had a duff load of fuel.

Going to let it run almost dry again and then drain filter and refuel on good stuff.

car runs good though at the minute.

cheers
