Default Sedona 2003 Starter Motor! Where is it?

Hi

havong problems starting my 2003 Sedona CRD L turn the key and intermittantly the engine won't turn over, just a clunking noise inside engine bay, it has gradually got worse, where now it won't start at all, i suspect it is the starter motor, but i cannot locate it! Help please!

Is there anything else that could be causing it not to turn over before i waste money on a new starter motor.

Thanks

starting at the battery follow the heavy lead from the positive and check the connections at the end you will find the starter then check the earth connections from the engine to the negative on the battery if you are getting the clunking noise then probably the solenoid is ok so since the problem has developed gradually the most likely culprit is the brushes in the motor which may or may not be available separately if not a friend of mine used to use brushes for washing machines and file them to size

....hmmmm , funny as I've not been on these forums for a while , but came back to have a look today.

Mine recently had a dodgy starter but I was lucky. I spotted an 04 one on ebay for £35 incl shipping and my local garage fitted it for £25 quid....sorted.

...until last week when towing my caravan I have a massive drop in power. The garage suspect its the MAF sensor as nothing comes up on the ECU codes check.
One of the garage guys who's a friend also has a Sedona SE has agreed to a 'MAF swap' in the morning so we can conclude for sure that this is the problem.
