Uhm, if he has the 2.5L KV6 engine, all he needs to do is measure the drive belt around the proposed new pulley path - with ac compressor pulley excluded.
Its night-time now, but I have my doubts that this path will work. As the drive belt uses the AC pulley to pull the belt clear of the tension pulley, - straight down effectively from the Power steering pulley is gonna be awfully close.
And you only need to lift the tensioner pulley with a 3/8 ratchet drive in the square recessed hole - slackening belt.
You'll want to take that into account when measuring new belt length. And belts are expensive - just get another AC unit from a Wrecker.
4 bolts - loosen the belt & swap over. (Watch out for pushing into the radiator..)
Lot safer than possibly getting a drive belt wrong length and causing other grief.
**I forgot the aircon gas situation - not easy is it...****
Still, I wouldn't risk using a differing belt.
That is the sorta panty-hose emergency belt us outback people rely upon...
Stuffing tyres with spinifex works, but the tyre is useless at trip's end
- wouldn't want that about an expensive engine...
Yanks should state what engine they have, as the old carnivals here in Aussie only came with the Kv6 variant. No joys of the 2.9L diesel or larger 3.5L engine.
