Default VDO radio cassette removal

Hi,
can anyone give me advice on the steps required to remove the dash around the radio slot in my 03 Sedona?
With the help from Dave "maizetina" I have successfully removed the original radio however I wish to fit a replacement facia panel and this will involve removing the dash to screw it home and secure the replacement head unit,
please see http://www.nexxia.co.uk/Car_Stereo_f...s/FP-03-03.jpg
for a picture of the facia panel with mounting slots.
The replacement head sits flush in the existing slot but is not secure and can easily be removed, is there an alternative way to secure it such as with a bracket and key?

Thanks in advance

John

Hello John,

If I understand you correctly, you want to install the din cage in the link. I assuming you have an existing metal cage fitted for a VDO unit.

IMO the retrofit plastic Kia din cage that is available is much better quality then the aftermarket ones and the cubby hole underneath is deeper, much more usefull.

OK, Remove ashtray, left hand corner of ashtray hole, give a smart, not violent tug, watch your chin and fingers.

Carefully work your way around, the facia will declip itself.

Once exposed, removal of existing din cage is 4 screws, you will have to shift the gear stick.

If I remember correctly on the Sedona you will now have to cut off one or maybe its two lugs on the body of the inner facia, simple to do, use a sharp blade.

Fit your new cage with the exsisting screws.

You may need a wiring and arial adapter for new unit, I did but it is not always the case.

Reverse fit facia, firm but gentle, starting at the top.
Hope this helps
