Question New, with questions

Hi all

We don't have a Sedona yet, still looking. Currently we have a LWB Shogun (Pajero/Montero depending on your location) 3.0Ltr V6 for towing & family stuff. However the little ones are not so little anymore and much as I'd prefer to keep/replace the Shogun the rear most seats are getting restrictive for long trips.

Budget will restrict us to about a 2003/4 model so what to go for ??
2.9 diesel or the petrol??

This car will cover less than 8k mile/yr, how reliable are the Kia's
What to look for?? what to walk away from

any help much appreciated

Hi and welcome,
We replaced our Misubishi delica with a Sedona 2.9 Diesel.
The first thing you must realise is that the build quality of mitsubishi is far higher and contain more 'toys'.

I would avoid the petrol as they are extremely inefficient, particularly when towing. Our 53 plate LE spec returns just under 40mpg on a conservative run and abot 34/35 around town. Towing (Our van is very heavy ,approx 1600Kg) it returns just under 30mpg.

The lE is a very good spec to aim for if you don't want the top of the range SE but do want a bit more refinement than the L ,LE or LX. But be warned, the spoiler on the back prevents the use of aftermarket rear mounting cycle racks.

There are plenty of Sedona's around and I would advise to try and source one that is option upgraded tp include the DVD entertainment system mouted in the rear centre of the roof but don't bother too much with the satnav stereo system as a TOm-TOM is much better.
Aloy wheels do make it look good and the reversing sensor option is a real plus. Darkended rear windows improve security and really look good.
You should be able to purchase a good spec high quality example on an 03/53 plate for between £7500 and £8500 (Trade with less than 40K Miles).

If it looks tatty and any of the trim is missing/damaged then just walk away.
Check th air con really does work, tyre wear is even and engine not too smokey and certainly check for any nasty engine noises or clunking suspension.
There are lots out there and more appearing in the ads daily. It may be worth a look on e-Bay.

Anyway, happy hunting and if you get the right one you won't be disapointed.

Kind Regards
Mark

Hi Mark & thanks for the reply

We are on the verge with a 2.9 LX Auto, I have posted a question on this but maybe you can help

Is the gear change smooth, hardly noticable or firm like the Mitsu??
