Default Maintenance Question

I took my 04 Sedona w/ 30,000 Miles (48,000 km) in for an oil change. I've been having oil changed and tires rotated on a regular basis. The mechanic told me I was due for:
Replacement of Automatic Transmission Fluid
Replacement of Coolant
Replacemnt of Spark Plugs
Replacement of Fuel Filter

I agree with the fuel filter, but am not sure if the others are necessary yet. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

Also, the car is driven mostly around town in a climate with extreme heat and cold temps.

Thanks and advance for your advice

I agree that the fuel filter and coolant change should be done. If the trans fluid is dark in color suggesting it has been getting too hot then change that. If it is still red to pink then leave it.
Spark plugs if they are platinum can run to 100000kms, if they are regular then change them too.

Is this a US version w/ the 3.5l V6 gas engine? I would get the transmission fluid changed but I don't know about the coolant. Make sure that when you change the transmission fluid you use the special diamond fluid or whatever they call it. You cannot use standard ATF.

Kia recommends the spark plug change at 30k for the standard plugs and 60k for the platinum plugs. My local stealership didn't take the time to check the plugs to see if they might be the platinum plugs but decided to tell me that my van was do for the plug change at ~30k. Of course it was right around a $300-400 charge (if memory serves) for the plug change BUT it would have been nice had they actually looked or mentioned that they might be good to 60k.

[rant]I have been statisfied with the quality of the Kia but my local dealership/service is just horrible, enough so that I probably wouldn't buy another Kia.[/rant]
