Here's a strange one. Our '05 has flattened it's battery on 3 occasions, charged up fine after a jump-start or roll-start or on my battery charger but after the 3rd time left my Wife, 4 kids plus a 9 months pregnant friend stranded (fortunately 5 mins from where I was) I bought a new battery for it. Guess what? A week later - same thing. So Carni's going into the Dealer's tomorrow to see what they can find. Must be a "short" somewhere?

Might be dreaming but I thought the alternator was a bit of a problem in the carnival. I would suggest that as the starting point.
Yeah, first thing I checked. Charging at 14 volts at idle, let alone at revs. Predictably, there was "No fault found" today. No current draw when switched off at all, according to the Service Dept. They wanted to keep it overnight to see if it'd die on them but wouldn't even think of supplying a loan car, not even a little one that I could use while my Wife could use my Patrol. Unfortunately I start work at 0530 so we both need wheels. So we have Carni. back & we'll see how we go. We're going to conduct an experiment this weekend. Park it on Friday night, use my truck all weekend & see if it starts on Sunday night. If not, straight back to the Dealer!

Our UK diesel Sedonka seems to zap power despite an new battery and a refurbished alternator. Its happened twice to us also.
If you suss out the offending device, give us a shout .. :-)
As expected, ths is going to be a sod to track down. We left Carni sitting, started it twice Saturday & once on Sunday. This is with the new battery (460 cca) that I fitted. By Sunday it had "slowed" down a little but still easily started her up, so I re-fitted the original (630 cca) battery & we'll do it again next weekend.
OK, I think it's been tracked down. Carni. was parked at 6:30pm last Friday & not touched 'till 1:00pm on Sunday. Predictably, flat battery.
Wifey got her back up, borrowed her Father's Pathfinder (he has a Company ute too) & basically dumped Carni. on the Dealer. Told him to call us when they found the fault.
Turns out (they say) that the DVD Player has a fault that's been draining the battery. A new one (our third!) is on order & the old one disconnected. My suggestion of installing an on/off switch in the dash was vetoed by the Dealer as being "non-standard".

Good to hear it finally revealed itself. I think your idea makes sense, what does the dealer mean non-standard, I guess for a KIA that means something sensible that will work.....oops....need to be careful about my musings. They are not a bad care, just a tad frustrating sometimes. I wonder how they tracked that on down, probably just a technical service bulletin.....Amazing what dealers find in there technical service bulletins, all the regualr problems with their vehicles. Maybe the Carnival TSB's are so plentiful it takes a bit of pushing to get them to check the list.....
