Default Motor Mounts - Engine movement

We have a USDM 2003 Sedona EX with the 3.5l gasoline engine. Over the last couple of months we have noticed a creaking sound when the van is put in gear (forward or reverse). Today I had the wife change gears while parked and I noticed that it seems like the passenger side motor mount is making the noise. It also seemed like there was a lot of engine movement when it was placed in gear.

Has anyone else experienced this? How much engine movement is considered normal when switching between gears? I wish there was a good way to measure the amount of movement.

Thanks!

Chris

2 of the motor mounts were replaced under warranty.

What mileage did you have on your vehicle at the time of replacement? Ours has the identical creaking you describe, caused by bad motor mounts. Dealer is unsure if they will cover it under the 100k warranty, they are checking.

At 25k miles on my '04, the rear or passenger side mount was replaced during a week long diagnostic session to find out why my van had a rough idle problem. The dealer ended up changing out the spark plugs and the rear motor mount. The idle issue when seems to have on away, it has been a few thousand miles since the repair.

I am not totally convinced that the spark plug cured the idle problem, I don't think the new motor mount is suppressing the rough idle either. Since the half of the intake manifold needs to be removed to replace the rear plugs, my guess is that I had a small vacuum leak that was fixed when new intake gaskets were fitted during intake installation.

I did not hear a creak before the motor mount was replaced.

Sorry guys, I have not checked back in a while. Althought they had replaced 2 mounts they didn't replace the one that is creaking - the passenger side mount. The mount is still noisy.

The van has about 35k miles on it and was covered under warranty. I guess I need to take it back in. The local Kia dealer is just flat out horrible though. I will not buy another Kia because of their service department - happy w/ the van in general.
