Default Chuffing injector

I got to use the Kia today (which is rare thing ) whilst i was scraping the ice off the windows i noticed a chuffing noise from the engine .
the car is a 03 model and only covered 35400 miles
this afternoon i removed intercooler and cover and engine cover found no3 injector covered in rock hard gunk .
i take it the washer on the bottom of injector is u/s do i need new bolts too??
can i buy the parts online as the dealer is 20 miles aways and i dont wish to do any damage
many thanks Dave

Maizetina,

You have my deepest sympathy

I'm now celebrating 2 whole months since something went wrong with my Sedonka. If I wasn't so skint it would be an ideal time for me to sell it with a clear conscience.

Your problem can be sorted with some new screws / washers , possibly new LP return pipes , but the important thing is to find someone with the BOTTLE to take the job on and do it without wrecking any injectors.

Its a known KIA problem and I have a hunch you 'might' be successful complaining to KIA head office providing you have full dealer service history. There are posts on this forum which can guide you but send me a PM if you're not sure.
I tried complaining but got fobbed of because it was a 51 plate with over 100k miles. If you aren't successful and have to sort it yourself, the garage that sorted mine is near Littleborough in Lancashire

HI murphwiz & Ebod
thanks for the replys well i tackled the injectors myself today,
i started at 9.30 and finally got done at 18.30 what a job,,
both 2&3 where both chuffing and i had ordered the two bolts and two copper washers for the pricley sum of £1.50 from a local dealers
i removed rocker cover and lower tappets and manage to just twist no 3 loose using mole grips took about a hours worth of wiggling
as for no 2 injector all was going well then i realised i had unscrewed the injector,
i managed to screw it back together and spent 4 hours using a heavy duty slide hammer trying to removed the whole unit standing on the bumper and kneeling on the engine
now my hands are all bruised and i ache all over and if it happens again then its of the dealers
what a job !!!!!!
i now feel like chopping it in a getting a Saab after the day ive had

Red face

Dave,
Well done old boy! You are clearly a much braver chap than I ever will be.
I had no slide hammer and dreaded the possibility of busting an injector ( £150 plus ECU recoding ). If my car was stuck off road I'd also have a much bigger problem....the wife!

I was much braver in the days of Pinto engines ! ( note your ID ref about Cortinas )

Since you are relatively limited poster to this forum I would track some of my threads for the many probs I've had , just for the sake of having a caravan tug
Start with looking at your rear underbody heater pipes

I'm like ebod, I've had mine chuffing too, I got Kia to replace mine and all the sound insulation at the same time.

Oh and as for the rear heater pipes I have a brand new set all waxoyled and ready for replacement in the roof of my workshop, saw them on ebay and picked up a set ready for the inevitable.
