Lightbulb Carnival 2.9 diesel torque settings required

Hi there,

After a whole lot of searching all over South Africa I have eventually found some torque settings for the 2.9 TDI engine. I however think they are not quite right.

This is what I managed to find.

Cylinder head:
18 newton meters

Big end bearing
First tighten – 68.6 newton meter
Loosen and retighten – 21.7 newton meter
Final tighten – 90

Main bearing
Pre tighten 74.5 newton meter then 60

The Cylinder Head @ 18 Nm sounds way to low... It should be more like 180 or something. The Main bearings numbers also seems to be swopped around (or incomplete)

Can any one help or confirm this info?

I have gone through a lot of blood sweat and tears (and money) to get this far on a job that started out as a "Replace the tentioner on the Balancing shaft / oil pump drive chain" to an almost full engine rebuild.

I should have all the parts by next week and do not want to guess what the torque settings should be and through all that money in the drain by dooing things incorrectly.

Have you tried here: Global Service Way

Standard torque settings are under Engine > General Information

Might help a bit.
