Default Have you seen this problem on the Sedona?

Hi. I wanted to ask anyone if they have seen this problem on the Sedona or on any vehicle and might be able to give me a clue on what might have happened. I have a 2005 Sedona EX.

Last week my wife was driving it and had the following happen. The weather was cold (28-30F) with ice/slush on the road. She was doing about 20-25mph and the vehicle shut off. I was not with her at the time and ere is what she described.

All the power to the vehicle went out. The engine shut off and the power steering and power brakes went out. She did not have any lights on the dash.

At that point I went and drove the vehicle back to the house with no problem and then to the dealership with no problem. The service technicians looked at it for two and a half days. They could pull no codes from the vehicle and could not recreate the problem.

It scared my wife to death, because our kids were in the car, and since there is no explaination from the service department she will not drive it. I have a concern about driving it also, so I thought I would ask if anyone else has had this experience.

I have not seen this. Perhpas some sort of electrical fault exacerbated by water splashing up from the slush.

Agreed. Something either got shorted out and stalled it, (perhaps starter cable got arced somehow,) or a battery cable jumped off the terminal and shorted on something then jumped back on.

something i have heard of is with vw golfs where the main power relay starts playing up which means the fuel pump shuts down but also the power to the computer is turned off so although the car will not run the computer records no fault codes as it has been switched of also i have heard of a car having problems with the ignition switch wiring so even though the switch is on nothing is powered up fault finding in this case can be a complete nightmare as until the fault is present you cant know if you have fixed it a suggestion is to wiggle all wires/connectors to see if you can replicate the fault

My wife nearly hit a wall with our 2.9 diesel when the breaks failed, It was actually the alternator that failed but the vacuum pump for the brake servo is appended to the back of the alternator.
My guess it that something similar is happening to yours.
