Default What Do You LIKE About Your Carnival/Sedona?

I know it's in the nature of Forums like these that all the problems come out, but what do you actually LIKE about your Kia?
We have an '05 Carnival, bought new & absolutely love it. So far (crossing fingers & touching wood) it's a "Wednesday" example of the breed. The only probs have been the CD & DVD players, both replaced several times.
In no particular order, my likes are:
The price.
Warranty.
Standard of equipment.
Comfort.
Space.
Seating versatility.
Performance (believe it or not), ours is a manual & is just getting better with km.
Highway economy.
Four baby-seat hooks ready & waiting to be used - standard. I fitted a "Converter-seat" to ours yesterday for our impending 4th.
The DVD player - absolute heaven on a trip.
Something quirky - the wheel trims. Or rather the way they're attatched. Not by unreliable spring-clips or plastic tabs, but by the wheel-nuts. They'll never pop off & to be stolen the wheels have to go too! My Rio was the same & also had THREE baby hooks in the back as standard. Here you get 3 or 4 mount-points but only one hook is compulsory.

Dislikes:
Worry about the KV6 liner problem.
High-beam isn't great. I fitted some "Ultra-White" globes for our last holiday & they helped but I think some good Driving Lights are on the Wish List.
Over to you.

G'day Esses
Mate I think you said it all. As you know we are into our 2nd Kia,apart from the liner problem we loved our Carnival. We also found it to be very economical in city & country driving. The main reason we upgraded was the extra room,we find that their is not much to dislike about either.Though the new car has a better sound system than the 2000 model. The tri zone air con is brilliant. The extra power is very noticable,we find the more klm's we rack up the better the economy is getting. The luggage space in the back is a great improvement as well. The hooks for the child restraints on the back of the seats is also a bonus along with the extra seat.Cheers Len

Default the easy answer

it is probably easier to list the things we dont like about our sedona
poor turning circle
poor aftermarket spares availability
and that is about it in just about every aspect we are very pleased with our purchase the only thing we have added is a portable dvd system and reversing sensors have to add that we have too many positive likes about or car to be able to list them but i suppose our top ten would probably be (in no particular order)
1 seating layout, 2 2 3 is much more suitable for our requirements
2 price, cheaper than any similar full size mpv
3 space, carrys us, all our junk and a dumb greyhound about in comfort
4 economy, well 40 to the gallon on a run is acceptable
5 safety, pretty well up to spec on safety and at 2.2 tonnes there is a lot of vehicle around you if it all goes pear shaped
6 sliding doors, easy to get kids dogs and junk in and out in narrow parking bays
7 rear heater, stops the moans of "were cold"from the back
8 fairly basic spec (ours is an L)which may seem strange as a positive but less gadgets means less to go wrong
9 high seating position, easy to see around in traffic and avoid the idiots but if all else fails see 5
10 easy to find in car parks well it would be if they werent so common around here
some of these comments can just as easily be applied to any fullsize mpv but some are sedona specific and one is pre 06 so when it comes time to replace we know exactly what vehicle we shall be purchasing
ps a negative the air bag warning light has come on so shall have to get it sorted

I have to say, there are more negatives than positives, but here's my +ve's :-

Based on late 2001 phase II 2.9 CRDI SE in ruby metallic

- Cheap : I bought mine out of warranty and despite the fact its cost me about £1500 in one year to fix, I did only pay £6400 for it in Aug-05. Most of the £1500 has been spent on things that were destined to go wrong anyway, so now I just want a few trouble free years to make up for it.

- Huge cabin space : Bags of room inside, plenty of leg room.

- Good tow car : This is really why I bought mine. I needed an MPV due to 3 kids, but I'm a bit anti-4x4 . The Sedona has the mass of a 4x4 and the 2.9ltr engine has the grunt to tow, but because there's less running gear the mpg is better than the nearest equivilent 4x4. We also run a small diesel hatch as a workhorse and save using the Sedona until we are travelling as a family ...or towing!!

- External looks : note the distinction as the interior is crumby. The outside looks smart enough though.

- Rear heater & a/c : Good idea...whats the point of everthing blasting out of the dash when rear pessengers are 10' behind.

- Seating arrangment : Although KIA have now dropped this 2-2-3 format and followed the 2-3-2 crowd, I prefer the two middle captain chairs. In the 2-3-2 layout , from prior experience I always had trouble with my kids as a) its impossible and deadly to put 3 kids alongside each other and b) nobody would ever sit in the back as they were 'closed in'. The only way it worked for me was loosing the central seat and having 2-2-2 layout.

...well thats my +ve's. Shame I've got 3x the amount of -ve's

For me the +ives was the size of the car, the 2 2 3 setup and did I mention the size.

The -ive points have already been expressed elsewhere.

Don't like the new carnival seating setup as much as the old, but that was for a family of six.
