Default How do i adjust my handbrake?

My handbrake to put it bluntly is c**p. Today my missus put the handbrake on while on a slope (and in P), the whole car jolted forward until it hit the parking pin. Then i had a thought...does it actually work? I told her to put in N and then release the footbrake. The car started to roll down the slope.

Is there anyway i can easily adjust them. Can some one run through the proceedure for adjusting them (including taking the rear drums apart to adjust/check the pads). According to old service history i found, it says that the handbrake cables had been replaced at some point.

Any help with this matter is gratefully received. TIA

Default poor handbrake

yes my handbrake is poor the history with mine shows new cables being fitted at some time but i crawled underneath to check the cables and put oil into them as the linkage is on the pasenger side it catches all the muck from the front wheel the actual brakes seem ok its just you need to heave like hell on the lever to make them work maybe a longer lever required or body building classes!

Hi, i've still not got around to adjusting my handbrake. Is there anyway the drums can be adjusted as i put the handbrake on today on a slight slope and it didn't hold. Anyone that has successfully adjusted or are in the know how of how to adjust without the need to fully change the cable (cos surely this shouldn't need doing), please post an answer and it would be much appreciated.

Thanks
