I had a problem recently when I decided to straddle a stray piece of metal on teh motorway and it blew uop and hit the underside of the car - it somehow hit and sliced through the coolant hose undder the car. It was several miles before the problem became apparent, but the RAC man diagnosed the problem.
The hose was replaced and a couiple of gallons of water put into the system. Today, when I went to recheck the water level, about 2 hours after I had been using the car, the engine was still hot/warm - including teh radiators. Is this normal? or should it cool quicker than that.
The other question is that I now have to top up the antifreeze - is there a drain point on the cooling system? (and how to find it!)
