I don't know whether it is just the nature of forums, but most people who enter topics on this forum seem to have problems with their Sedona.
Is it just me or does anyone else out there think that the Kia Sedona is one of the biggest loads of c**p on the market today.
I have owned cars now for over 32 years, and over the past 25 years have bought 2 to 3 year old vehicles, ran them for a couple of years and sold them on without any major problem.
I bought 51 reg Sedona 18 months ago which has all of the toys, had full service history. I now have to admit it was probably the biggest mistake I have ever made. I am now in the situation that when I come to sell it in September I am going to be seriously out of pocket
The timing belt snapped before it was due to change, the air conditioning has stopped working and I have an oil leak which is coming from behind the timing belt casing. The rear door has rust on it around the handle, and looking at other topic on the forum what more have I to look forward to if I was to keep it.
Our second car is a 1995 Citroen ZX 1.9 diesel, which currently has 140,000 miles on the clock. We have owned the vehicle since it was 9 months old. In that time nothing mechanical/electrical has failed on it and the body work shows no sign of rust. The only money spent has been normal maintenance/wear and tear (apart from on incident which was my fault). It would be interesting to see what a 10 year old Sedona will look like, and what sort of money has been spent on it to keep it running.
I CANNOT WAIT TO SELL MY SEDONA, AND WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER
I can't wait to sell mine either although I am pretty happy with it now, just don't need the seven seat as much as I need a lexus GS300/bmw 323/audi cabriolet/saab convertible/x-type ( I know they are mondeos, but a 30K car to 5K in 4 years is worth a try) and I can get a resonable one for about 5K which will leave enough cash to maybe get my wife a c3 in a years time.
sorry I dont agree. I have an 04 sedona fully loaded and I believe it was worth the value. I did not have to buy it, I purchased because I like the interior more than the others. I had a ford van before and this one is way better.

Malcolm,
I have exactly the same model/ageSedona as you with similar things that have gone wrong ( A/C currently out of action )
If you paid big money for it and it had low miles then maybe you got short changed , so your comments are justified.
If you are comparing it with a 1995 ZX then that had no electronics , no aircon etc. All the latest equivilants of Citroens have plenty of glitches which will also put you out of pocket.
If I had the money at the time, I would probably have gone for a C8 or Fiat Ulysee 2002> 2.2 HDI....but looking at the reviews even these MPVs are at the bottom of the JD power surveys.
I think the main point / purpose of choosing a Sedona are its towing crudentials. If you don't have a requirement to tow a big trailer/caravan then I personally think there are better choices of MPVs out there. But if you need 7 seats , don't need 4x4 but want capacity to tow over 1½ tons then the Sedona is in its own class.
Hope you think the same in three years time, or are you in the enviable position that you will have changed you vehicle before the manufacturers warranty has run out!

I hope you still think the same in a couple of years time. I did not have to buy mine, at the time I thought it was a good buy, but looking back in hindsight!

I bought mine specifically for towing our caravan. We do need seven seats, but upgraded from a Zafira to get the towing capability.
Your comments re my compairing with a '95 ZX it noted, but I still think there seem to be an awful lot of known problems with the Sedona.
Same reply as previous, I hope you think the same in 3 years time. If you are keeping your vehicle longer than the manufacturers warranty get it extended. I know Kia more than doubled the price of the extended warranty over a year ago, but for peace of mind, and bearing in mind all of the inherent problems with the vehicle I would suggest getting the extended warranty.
these sedonas are worth very little now. mantles in royston are selling a '53 LE with 10,000 miles for less than 10K.
the only thing I don't like about my sedona at the moment is the fuel consumption, cars do rust things do go wrong with them - I think you have to be very careful buying cars - someone has to be selling it for a reason.
I am still mildly considering nighttime mini cabbing and airport runs, to see if I find the car can make me some money
