Can someone please help me... where I am attempting to use the old power lead for the under the driving seat centurion DVD player I have notices that a 4 pin plug goes nowhere inside the central console. can someone give me some guidance in the location of where I should be plugging this in... should it be linked up with the stereo cables or something.. I don't even think the bloke from the kia dealership knows. and I have bought a cheap jvc cd player unit and want to be able to join up the stereo and power up the dvd power lead at the same time.

BTW the 4 pin plug only has three wires joined up.

thanks..

From memory the only connection the Centurion DVD powerlead setup is to the radio/cdplayer is a splice into its power supply cable. There are no other connections on a dealer fit. There are 3 cables one is live always on, live ignition on and negative. (red, yellow and black)

Pull back the carpet near the pedals and this should reveal the routing of them. It goes from under the seat along the door step trim and around the back of the pedals under the carpet to the centre console.

thank you, I have got a four pin plug with those coloured cables available, I was considering splicing it into the new cable supplied with the cd player - although I think the manual said the yellow went straight to the battery and the red was the ignition wire and the stereo manual states the yellow is the main battery wire.

I have got my car back and noticed they removed the dvd player mounting bracket from under the driving seat so along with the rear wiper button not being replaced and the stereo cage and cubby hole not being replaced I will ask them if they can put the dvd mounting bracket back. this is a pain as I was hoping to get a centurion dvd player and install it with very little effort, I already have a new screen from ebay £49.99 buy it now from willan_trading.

I would have liked to simply get another player and bolt it in and connect up the power and green/grey lead still inside the upholstery, when I put it up for sale.

has anyone got any ideas on mounting a player simply as I think the previous mounting bracket was connected to the seats mounting brackets.

The power wires splice into the stereo loom.

Quick splice into the audio harness for power.
Could velcro the DVD unit down, the oem requires seat removal to mount the big lump of steel, which is a silly bugger design anyway!

I have the big lump of steal back now and have been told I need to remove the seat to do it. although I will consider the velcro approach. the switch and cage and cubby hole are being ordered.

back to the audio wiring. this is my plan the stereo came with its cabling which comprises of the speaker wires and the power wires if I use the 4 pin male connecter I got with the screen which is supposed to plug into the box of tricks and plug those wires into the stereos power wires of matching colors eg yellow, red and black and ignore the 4th wire then plug that into the female 4 pin socket currently hanging out my dashboard..? this way I am not touching anything on the kia loom and if I bugger it up I am only affecting the stereo wires.

I am sure my old screen had working dome lights, but do not seem to be able to find any wires in the locality of the installation hole, which can plug into the dome light connector on the new screen.

Thought the plate was there so you can mount the DVD without effecting that plastic vent that sticks out the floor?

Dome lights need wiring into the existing roof lights.

it all works although I need to solder the video lead as it was left but damaged I tested it with another lead and it all works not connected up proper yet though as I still have no stereo cage to put anything in..

MOT this morning + I just had to pay £19 as I seem to have lost my registration document

if I add up all the costs from this month and last I should be selling the car for more than I paid for it
