Hi
Just purchased a Kia Sedona 2.9 Diesel Automatic (1999) V reg today, I intend to to my caravan with it (Max weight Just over a ton)
Does the Sedona have a gearbox oil cooler fitted as standard? Had a look today, I can identify the intercooler rad (on top) then the normal radiator with the aircon radiator mounted together, but in front of this is another small rad, is this just an oil cooler for the engine or is it for the Auto box.
Would yo advise me to have one fitted, is it expensive and can it be done DIY?

Thanks

Steve

It is for the transmission. Just don't tow in overdrive or the fluid will burn.

Steve

Mine is a '04 diesel auto and my caravan is nearer a ton and a half, I don't have additional cooling fitted and the box appears to be fine. I tow about 2500 miles per year. So far so good and there have been no problems at service times.

Is anyone else recommending we fit additional cooling?

It was just that when I asked about the sedonas suitability as a tow car on the caravan talk forum I was advised to get an oil cooler fitted for the auto box.
turns out that there is already one fitted as confirmed by the local kia garage today, so fingers crossed.
