We have 2 cars (paid for), one under 12 months (People-Mover) & the other (small sedan) only 16 months old. We bought these last year (while we still could) at a time of turmoil at work, redundancies & a failed attempt at a career change on my part, mainly so we'd have no worries about old cars. Now everthing's settled down, I have a new job & the old 4WD bug has started to bite. Between Wifey & I we've had 7 4WD's & love going bush but haven't had a "Truck" for 7 years. We'd love to take our 3 kids to our fav. places like Fraser, Kakadu, Uluru etc but all we can afford are 10 + yo Patrols or Cruisers. I have my eye on 2 GQ Patrols, petrol 4.2 7-seat wagons, one auto the other manual. So, am I crazy to want a heavy, fuel-guzzling dinosaur, or is it OK? Oh, & wifey has actually been encouraging me! As long as it's the Rio that goes, not her Carnival!

We (I) wanted a Sorento (or Hyundai Terracan - 7 seats) when we bought the Carnival, but just couldn't afford the extra $6 000-00. Ho Hum. In an ideal world, it would've been a Sorento & a Cerato. But the Carnival has been absolutely fantastic as a Family Bus, plus the DVD player is sheer magic.

Anyway, we bought the manual Patrol & have a buyer for the Rio, it probably goes on Monday (sniff) & "Big Red" will go onto LPG so fast - we put $88-00 of ULP into it today & that was at $1-30.9 pl NOT the $1-39.9 it had been! The good thing is that it's a friend of Wifey's that's buying it so I know it'll be looked after & I'll even service it after warranty runs out!
